Nature & Scope :
This position is part of the fund development department and helps YBC and YBC Foundation with donor relations and our new strategic comprehensive campaign.
Reporting to the VP Senior Fund Development, the Manager, Donor Relations ensures that donor relations / stewardship activities are achieved according to the donor engagement strategy, with a goal to improve donor retention rates, increase average gift amounts, and deepen donor relationships.
Works in collaboration with the Senior VP and GM Fund Development to identify, plan, and execute a range of community engagement events and activities throughout the year that bring to life the power and impact of YBC.
This role supports advancement of the philanthropy and stewardship mandates of YBC and YBC Foundation by driving stewardship within all YMCA vehicles to support comprehensive campaign : capital campaign, major gifts, annual giving, and legacy giving.
Is an instrumental position to help activate community engagement in annual giving from awareness campaigns to directing to online giving appeals.
The incumbent must have experience working directly with a variety of internal and external stakeholders, excellent interpersonal skills, creative, event management skills, a strong aptitude for fundraising, and a commitment to delivering exceptional customer service while managing multiple projects and deadlines.
Major Responsibilities :
Donor Relations :
- Drive donor relations, ensuring donor-centred service, to maintain positive relationships with past, current, and future donor
- Lead donor relations and stewardship to support senior fundraisers on strategy and implementation of planned touchpoints and custom stewardship for key donors· Establish metrics and measures to determine effectiveness of our donor relations and stewardship programs and initiatives.
- Support all YMCA fundraisers with moves management through knowledge of donor stewardship
- Create, write and design a variety of donor relations and stewardship communications, including thank you messaging, campaign and event collateral, as well as custom and targeted impact reports for donors (individuals, corporations, family foundations) that convey the impact of their giving
- Elevate key donor touchpoints, including updating templates, engagement plans and annual correspondence to donors; as well as special communications like the new donor welcome
series, quarterly e-newsletter for monthly donors, and other stewardship touchpoints like thank you / holiday cards or personalized packages that surprise & delight our donors
- Record donor information, notes, and engagement plans in the donor database
- Research, compile, and record information on existing and potential donors
- Understand donor interests and be aware of donor giving trends in order to cultivate / steward donors
- Support and lead initiatives that help us understand our donors, such as donor journey mapping, conducting event and donor surveys, and tracking data
Donor Experience & Retention :
- Prepare donor-centred communization for a variety of YBC fundraising newsletter to share the YMCA story an the impact of gifts
- Optimize the entire Donor Journey for one-time and monthly donors, leveraging data and insights to drive the donor’s next best action from initial donation to lifelong donor.
- Develop and manage marketing campaigns aimed at improving donor retention across multiple channels (email, direct mail, digital advertising, website)
- Assist with fund development social media channel
- Support the optimization of all online integration and increase organizational fluency and utilization of Blackbaud and its content management system, in collaboration with the Manager Fund Development Systems
- Provide support at signature events, larger third-party events and other duties as assigned
Qualifications / Experience :
- Post Secondary Degree or Diploma in a related field and 2 years related experience and / or a combination of related education and work experience
- Demonstrated achievement in annual fund development, training, communications and event management
- Ability to plan, implement and monitor event budgets
- Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills
- Experience and ability in preparing and delivering presentations to internal and external groups
- Team player with proven ability to foster community relationships and fundraising opportunities
- Proven ability to plan, prioritize, implement multiple projects under pressure to meet deadlines
- High degree of independence and initiative
- Ability to work some evenings, weekends and flexible schedule, as required
- Respect for confidentiality and strong sense of professional ethics
- Proficient with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Office 365)
- Knowledge of Raiser’s Edge an asset
- Valid Driver’s License and access to a vehicle
- Successful candidates will be required to provide a current and satisfactory Criminal Reference Check / Vulnerable Sector Search issued no later than six (6) months preceding start date
