Overview
Our client, a leading automotive parts retailer, is seeking a Business Relationship Manager to
join their team at their Mississauga warehouse. The Business Relationship Manager will play a
crucial role in managing and maintaining relationships with their suppliers, vendors, and shipment
carriers. The day-to-day responsibility of this role will be to address and resolve difficult issues
with their counterparties at the warehouse, while the strategic responsibility would be to negotiate
better pricing or terms with the counterparties. The ideal candidate will possess strong
negotiation skills and be comfortable resolving tough situations tactfully.
Responsibilities
- Manage and nurture relationships with suppliers and vendors to ensure smooth deliveries and returns.
- Address and resolve difficult issues that arise with counterparties in a timely and effective manner.
- Negotiate contract terms and agreements with suppliers and vendors to optimize pricing and terms.
- Collaborate with internal teams, including purchasing, logistics, and finance, to ensure alignment on supplier-related issues.
- Analyze vendor performance and identify areas for improvement or cost savings.
- Develop and implement strategies to mitigate risks associated with supplier relationships.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in business administration, supply chain management, or related field.
- Proven experience in vendor management or procurement, preferably in a retail or distribution environment.
- Strong negotiation skills with the ability to reach mutually beneficial agreements.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to navigate tough conversations diplomatically.
- Analytical mindset with the ability to evaluate supplier performance and identify opportunities for improvement.
- Familiarity with contract management and procurement processes.
- Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Knowledge of automotive parts or the aftermarket industry is preferred but not required.
- Willingness to travel occasionally for supplier meetings or conferences.
