Our clients represent Risk, Finance, HR, CAO, Audit, Legal, Compliance, Financial Crime, Capital Markets, Personal and Commercial Banking and Wealth Management.
We also lead the development of digital tools and platforms to enhance collaboration.
The AI and Data Strategy Team is responsible for supporting various data lineage activities within Royal Bank of Canada, as well as, spearheading deployment of strategic analytic initiatives, through collaboration with major functions within the bank.

What will you do?
The Business System Analyst responsibilities will be conducting requirements gathering sessions, details break down, to assist development in metadata scanners.
You will work in collaboration with IT and Business Partners to assess, research, and analyze data needs to support metadata management & data lineage deliveries.
This position involves many interpersonal interactions at all levels within the organization, communication skill is essential for this role to build connections with technical personnel / high level management.
- Work with various IT and Business Partners to understand business logic, provide analysis on system dataflows and prepare development initiatives with intended design and standards.
- Understand System Dataflow for various applications, contribute to data model and system architecture design.
- Maintain & create technical documentations, flowchart, business use case in assist with project development.
- Test case design and execution in support of Quality Assurance and User Acceptance Testing.
- Willing to learn and use system dataflow platform, prepare deliveries as per Business Requirements.
- Analyze and remediate issue in dataflow disconnections.
What do you need to succeed?
Must-have :
- Undergraduate degree or higher, preferable in Computer Science, Engineering or Finance; 2+ years of Business Analysis Experience in fast-paced environment
- Understanding of databases concepts : Knowledge of relational and non-relational databases. Ability to read and understand SQL queries that extract, manipulate, and analyze data.
- Database Design : Basic knowledge of database design and normalization principles.
- Data Lineage Tools and Techniques : Understanding how data flows through various systems, including its origin, transformations, and destination.
- Data quality management : Knowledge of data quality dimensions (accuracy, completeness, consistency, etc.) and data profiling techniques.
- Data Integration : Basic knowledge of integrating data from multiple sources.
- Programming Languages : Basic proficiency in scripting languages like Python or R for data manipulation and analysis. Understanding of shell scripting for automating data processes.
- A product management mindset to adapt supporting business especially if deviating from plans and schedules while making decisions based on real-world information.
Nice-to-have :
- Knowledge of tools like Apache Atlas, Informatica, Collibra, or Talend that are used for tracking data lineage.
- Data Governance Frameworks : Understanding Data Governance Principles : Familiarity with frameworks and standards such as DAMA-DMBOK, COBIT, and GDPR.
- Metadata concepts : Understanding the importance of metadata in data management and governance.
- ETL processes and tools : Understanding of ETL tools like Informatica, Talend, or Microsoft SSIS.
