Position Overview :
Recreation assistants play a key role in supporting the successful delivery ofa wide variety of recreation and leisure programs in the community.
Responsibilities :
- Delivers equipment to various locations. Ensures new equipment purchases are recorded for inventory. Sanitizes and inspects existing equipment to ensure it is functioning properly.
- Organizes fitness / other equipment storage rooms before the start of a new session.
- Visits various locations to monitor programs and connect with program staff and / or volunteers. Reportsany concerns to the Program Coordinator for appropriate follow-up.
- Provides support, and occasionally attends volunteer-led programs to ensure an inclusive and welcoming environment for all participants.
- Ensure evaluations are completed for each program at the end of eachsession.
- Monitors program attendance and conductsfollow-up with participants to determine their ongoing interest.
- Assists Program Coordinators to develop and implement volunteer appreciation initiatives.
- Assists in the implementation ofspecial program events.
- Assists Program Coordinator in the implementation of wellness and educationalworkshops.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements :
- Minimum level of education completion of secondary school education (or the equivalent).
- Must be able to lift 35lbsunassisted.
- Access to reliable transportation for the duration of employment
- Minimum 3 months of related experience.
- Reliable with a good attitude and employment record.
