A DAY IN THE LIFE
- Reads and interprets blueprints or welding process specifications and welding symbols.
- Operates manual or semi-automatic welding equipment to fuse metal segments using processes such as flux-cored arc welding (FCAW), shielded metal arc welding (SMAW).
- Removes welds using the Air Arc Gouging process.
- Completes assigned work within given timeframe and according to specifications.
- Accurately completes time sheets, weight sheets, hazard analysis sheets etc.
- Operates manual flame-cutting equipment.
- Adjusts welding equipment and tooling according to work specifications.
- Completes housekeeping duties in assigned area or project area on a daily basis and / or when required.
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
- One year of work experience in the trade required. Some college or industry courses in welding are considered an asset.
- Interprovincial trade certification (Red Seal) an asset.
- Specialization in structural construction welding considered an asset.
- Ensures all required CWB qualifications are current.
- Possesses solid understanding of welding equipment and welding accessories.
- Possesses knowledge of pre-heat and post-heat temperatures and applications.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS
- Must have own transportation as location is not accessible with public transportation.
- Premium for night shift
- Must supply basic hand tools.
- Must have CSA approved steel-toed boots
- Overhead Crane certification is an asset.
