We are hiring for a full-time, permanentSenior Manager, Learning and Development position working out of Edmonton, AB.
The Senior Manager, Learning and Development is accountable for the development of company-wide technical training programs, fleet and equipment training, and learning systems.
They will collaborate with embedded Learning and Development teams to ensure that employees across EPCOR are able to perform work safely and competently.
This function develops inventive, engaging learning programs through a variety of tools and delivery modes.
This position may be eligible for EPCOR’s hybrid work program.
What you’d be responsible for
Planning :
Developing an operational plan that translates the function strategy into executable objectives, and monitoring the execution.
Defining clear priorities and actions for the annual work plan.
- Anticipating longer-term issues, challenges, and opportunities.
- Identifying the necessary budget and human resource requirements to deliver services, processes or operations.
- Ensuring on-going, effective positioning, and appropriate relationships between Learning and Development and other Managers / Stakeholders.
Operational Excellence :
- Monitoring advancements in technologies and industry practices.
- Identifying, implementing, and monitoring opportunities for continuous improvement of the function.
- Analyzing and identifying issues impacting operational performance and establishing initiatives for continuous improvement.
- Assessing organizational readiness for change efforts to promote employee engagement and to mitigate risks.
Execution :
- Ensuring the alignment of activities and addressing issues, problems, and concerns.
- Monitoring performance metrics; tracking, reporting, and implementing corrective measures to resolve issues.
Talent :
- Hiring, engaging, supporting and developing talent.
- Setting appropriate performance objectives, providing coaching and support, and holding people accountable to achieve results.
- Evaluating potential and prioritizing development activities to close gaps and build succession pipelines.
What’s required to be successful
- A Degree in Education, Business, Commerce or a related field is required
- Completion of Post Secondary coursework related to Curriculum Design, Curriculum Development, Adult Education, and Behavior-Based Training
- Extensive leadership experience in developing and managing technical training programs
- Experience in Utilities, Construction, Equipment Operation, Excavation and related field work.
- Demonstrated ability to facilitate understanding and buy-in
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and remain calm under pressure
- Demonstrated ability to create and manage budgets
- Knowledge of trends and approaches in adult education & learning
- Knowledge of legislation, regulations, codes and industry related best practices related
- Strong vendor management and contract management skills
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
