The Opportunity :
WSP is currently seeking a Co-op Student to join our Transportation Planning group, located at our Winnipeg office. Reporting to the Manager, this position will be responsible for working on projects for municipal and provincial government or development clients focusing on traffic impact studies, parking studies, micro-simulation, road safety, transit studies and active transportation studies amongst others.

A day in the life :
- You will work with a team of transportation / traffic engineers, planners and designers to assess transportation, traffic and parking conditions.
- You will analyze transportation data and assist in traffic, active mode, and transit analysis.
- You will apply best practice engineering principles and undertake engineering calculations, analyses and studies as required for the design and implementation of transportation, transit and traffic projects.
- You may prepare of roadway, parking and other drawing details using AutoCAD;
- You will prepare graphics, technical memos, and reports to communicate technical results and recommendations.
- You will conduct field studies (site visits, inventories, transit, traffic and parking counts); and
- Other duties as assigned.
What you'll bring to WSP :
- Enrolled in a Civil / Transportation Engineering Degree or Transportation Planning Program;
- Experience in or the willingness to learn Synchro, SimTraffic, AutoCAD, and Microsoft Office;
- Experience with or the willingness to learn Vissim, Aimsun, EMME and ARC GIS;
- Knowledge of local, provincial and TAC design procedures / guidelines and standards;
- Exposure to field work, such as site visits and traffic surveys;
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills;
- Ability to work in a team environment;
- Dedicated team player; and
- Valid MB driver's license.
