POSITION SUMMARY :
The Logistics & Inventory Supervisor is accountable for development of inventory management policies and procedures for ensuring the availability of all necessary materials required to support the manufacturing process, release scheduling of inbound raw materials and components, and ensuring adequate stock levels for production requirements.
This position is also responsible for the logistical coordination and management of all aspects regarding transportation, shipping, receiving, and maintaining all associated documentation in adherence to applicable regulations.
This is a leadership role with oversight of all inventory, inventory control, and inbound / outbound freight.
DUTIES : INVENTORY MANAGEMENT
INVENTORY MANAGEMENT
- Manage the timely and accurate flow of all stock and non-stock material within Receiving, Shipping and Warehouse
- Responsible for organizing and controlling of inventory accuracy.
- Manage the organization and supply of raw materials to each work center in a timely and efficient manner
- Support optimum level and mix of raw materials and finished goods in warehouse
- Identify and work with sales & engineering to disposition excess and obsolete inventory.
- Manage the timely & accurate receiving of raw materials into ERP system. Work with Production Supervisors & WA to ensure all goods are put away in locations in a timely manner
- Responsible for all assigned tasks relating to inventory control, including maintaining inventory counts, communicating inventory stock outs
- Responsible to support year-end physical inventory count and cycle counts
- To provide leadership and direction for logistics operations, inventory management and replenishment, and other responsibilities as may be defined
LOGISTICS MANAGEMENT
- Manage & Develop approved carriers for ShawFlex & DSG-Canusa
- Analyze all aspects of logistics to determine the most cost-effective or efficient means of transporting products or supplies
- Manage direct shipments to customers as required.
- Manage freight and export documentation
- Responsible for compliance to all Customs and Duty documentation procedures
- Maintain USMCA information & documentation
- Manage freight costs, ensure freight is shipped as cost effectively as possible
- Manage documentation related to receiving of goods and ensure timely distribution to accounting dept.
- Ensure carrier compliance with company & customer policies & procedures for product transit or delivery
- Responsible for the accuracy of all shipping related documentation.
- Manage any transport damage claims and related freight issues.
QUALITY, HEALTH & SAFETY
- Day-to-day implementation support and supervision of the HSE system to achieve IIF status
- Ensure all required health and safety practices related to the employees, working environment, and equipment are proactively managed
- Ensure OHSA and legislative compliance.
- Ensure 5S housekeeping standards are maintained and improved.
- Implement and maintain policies and procedures to support ISO, TS, and CSA requirements.
HUMAN RESOURCES
Ensure that staffing levels are sufficient to provide excellent customer service; assist with recruitment, development, and training of staff.
Provide input for performance development, discipline, and annual performance review for staff.
- Manage and assist staff to ensure awareness, understanding and application of policies & procedures.
- Ensure all processes, transactions and external business relationships are in accordance with policy, procedure and the highest of ethical standards
REQUIREMENTS :
- Minimum 3 to 5 years experience in similar role in heavy manufacturing
- Strong working inventory in inventory management.
- Strong working experience and knowledge of ERP systems
- Strong writing skills for creating reports, correspondence, contracts, requests, bids, and other documentation.
- Exceptional oral and written communication skills
- Previous experience & good knowledge of Forklift & reach trucks operations & safety procedures.
- Knowledge of warehousing and distribution practices, purchasing practices, inventory management, customer relations management.
- Minimum Community college education
- Strong leadership experience and previous experience managing teams.
- Ability to work up to 70% of the time at the shop floor.
