Bring your data centre infrastructure, server hardware / software administration, and Cloud expertise to the Ministry of the Attorney General, Judicial Information Technology Office (JITO), where you will lead infrastructure hardware upgrades, and platform modernization projects, and provide ongoing maintenance and support to ensure the smooth operations of critical IT infrastructure.

You will work as part of a team that is responsible for delivering / maintaining a suite of applications and websites for services in support of judicial administration.

The Judicial Information Technology Office is also responsible for providing IT security / systems advice, infrastructure maintenance / support, and applications development services to the Ontario Court of Appeal, and the Chiefs Offices of the Superior and Ontario Courts.

As a key member of a diverse technical team, you will work on infrastructure upgrades for server, storage and networking devices, and platform modernizations to Azure Cloud, and engage with vendors to facilitate procurement / technical troubleshooting activities.

The Judicial Information Technology Office works closely with internal, external IT and justice partners to ensure the security of judicial information and provides professional IT services and solutions to the judiciary of Ontario and their supporting offices.

What can I expect to do in this role?

In this role, you will :

  • provide specialized technical leadership and coordination for JITO-managed Judicial Server and vendor-hosted server room and associated network
  • provide specialized technical advice and guidance in issues specific to the judiciary in order to protect the security and segregation of judicial information
  • provide specialized knowledge to select, install, and have ongoing use of auditing methods and solutions
  • provide ongoing client service regarding systems administration, and manage operational, technical and service aspects of stakeholder relations
  • provide technical leadership for the evaluation of, and reporting on, multiple situational, concurrent or sequential projects
  • perform project, operational and service administration activities such as verifying that vendor deliverables have completely met contract requirements
  • provide consultation, instruction, direction and technical assistance to development teams

How do I qualify?

Technical Knowledge and Skills

You have :

  • demonstrated knowledge of, and experience with, a variety of information technology environments (i.e. operating systems (Windows Server 2008+ / LINUX Ubuntu / RedHat / UNIX), application software, common office and customized software, networks, databases, performance measurement, privacy and security)
  • demonstrated knowledge of, and experience with, Virtualization technologies (i.e. Microsoft Hyper-V, Cloud Technologies (Azure, AWS), and VMWare ESXi)
  • knowledge of, and experience with, Network technologies (i.e. switches (HPE Aruba), routers, including WiFi, fibre, firewalls and gateways) and Network topologies (e.

g. Layer 2 and Layer 3 IP networks)

  • knowledge of, and experience with, all aspects of IT Security to protect and enhance the security and segregation of judicial information according to the Blueprint for IT Security of the Canadian Judicial Council, and to protect judicial independence
  • demonstrated knowledge of, and experience with, Server Operations (i.e. install, configuration, management, upgrade, backup (Veeam Backup Replication), monitoring (VeeamOne / PRTG), patching(Windows / Linux), tape (SAS Autoloader), communications protocols (FTP / SFTP), and SAN technologies (HPE Nimble, MSA / ALLETRA, Cohesity Storage, Brocade Switches))
  • knowledge of IT Infrastructure Library (ITIL) processes (e.g. incident, problem and change management) in order to provide service support

Problem-Solving, Analytical, and Issues Management Skills :

  • you can provide solutions and leadership for various technical, operational, and service-related problems, efficiently and effectively
  • you can troubleshoot for persistent problems arising from diverse technology situations (for example, various areas of IP Network such as Layer 2 and Layer 3), IT Security, Server / Host Administration (HPE BladeSystem Servers) and Virtualization (Hyper-V, Azure Cloud, and VMWare)
  • you can keep management and clients apprised of ongoing technical, operational, and service needs.
  • you can troubleshoot, analyze problems, determine root causes, and provide viable solutions in direct relation to available technologies and alignment with the judicial policies

Communication and Customer Service Skills :

  • you have demonstrated oral and written communication skills to develop operational documents, training materials, policy, processes and procedures
  • you can develop and draft technical recommendations for senior management
  • you have demonstrated customer service skills to manage issues and provide direct support to the judiciary and the offices of the chief
  • you have demonstrated tact and diplomacy in dealing with sensitive situations that arise in the interaction with the judiciary and the office of the chiefs of the courts
  • you are able to establish effective working relationships

Salary Range : $1,405.38 - $1,796.16 Per Week
