Summary
The Rights, Acquisitions, and Distribution department at Bell Media has an exciting opportunity for a dynamic individual with a sharp eye for detail.
Our ideal candidate will have a keen awareness of the Canadian broadcasting and distribution landscape and a detailed understanding of program rights and the issues and trends driving their execution.
If you have over 3 years of experience working at a Canadian Broadcaster or Distributor engaged in front-line work in Acquisitions, Program Sales, and / or Rights Management, we want to hear from you.
Reporting to the Manager, Rights & Acquisitions, this position entails a broad mix of responsibilities, including, but not limited to :
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee EST & TVOD digital sales for Bell Media titles on third-party platforms, such as iTunes and GooglePlay Work closely with Programming, Rights Management, and Senior Manager of Content & Sales Distribution to develop EST strategy Make suggestions for campaigns to improve digital sales and meet annual financial targets Coordinate digital avails internally Work directly with BMI's content partners to develop release strategies and ensure delivery meets partner standards and timelines Liaise between internal and external stakeholders to ensure delivery meets partner standards and timelines Track the availability status of inventory and manage workflow schedules Respond to publicity and meta-data requests and schedule delivery Compile key financial reports and pivot tables for internal stakeholders, including Finance and senior management
- Support Acquisitions by coordinating and managing an inventory of potential programs for acquisition through the scanning of trade publications and logging of incoming distributor submissions, and circulating with the Programming Team to track feedback
- Support Rights Management by managing rights for a number of licensing deals and entering rights details and parameters into a master database, as well as a number of Excel & Smartsheet reports Respond to internal inquiries related to contractual rights & restrictions Data entry of contractual details and parameters into a master database, as well as a number of Excel reports.
Ensure consistency and accuracy of all details Liaise with Acquisitions, Legal, and Business Affairs departments to confirm contractual details
Other special projects as assigned
Critical Qualifications
- Post-secondary degree or diploma from a media-based program or equivalent experience
- Minimum of 3 years of experience working for a Canadian Broadcaster or Distributor, with experience in Acquisitions, Programming, Rights Management, or Content Sales a must
- Previous work experience with EST scheduling - prior experience coordinating deliveries to iTunes and / or Google Play ideal
- Experience working with Rights Management software (Media Maestro, Rights Logic, Jaguar, etc.) and / or broadcast scheduling software (IBMS, etc.
will be considered an asset, but not a requirement
- Demonstrated knowledge of programming trends, the distribution landscape and rights structures
- Excellent communication, writing, and organizational skills
- Analytical and problem-solving skill set with strong attention to detail
- Ability to adapt, multi-task and set priorities in a fast-paced work environment with tight deadlines and competing responsibilities
- Client-focused with an exceptional approach to customer service toward internal and external stakeholders
- Excellent computer skills, proficient with MS Office Suite (Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, etc.), with intermediate to advanced Excel skills, including experience creating pivot tables
- Knowledge of Smartsheet is considered an asset
