Forklift Mechanic - GFCA - Maintenance (Day Shift)
Position Summary
Reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor, this role makes a positive contribution, enabling Griffith Foods Canada to continue to grow and operate in an efficient and cost-effective manner.
The Individual will provide a focal point for customers in all matters related to the support and ongoing operation of the material handling fleet.
Responsibilities :
- Reports directly to the Maintenance Supervisor of Griffith Foods Canada to communicate all relevant matters pertaining to forklift operations.
- Ensures the day-to-day uptime of forklifts and aerial platforms.
- Administers a CMMS based safety program for PM’s, forklift Inspections and load tests.
- Maintains and repairs company owned / leased forklifts and aerial man lift platforms as required.
- Provides a focal point for service calls : forklifts, aerial platforms, batteries, and chargers.
- Manages equipment inventory spread sheet for forklifts, batteries, chargers, and aerial platforms.
- Assists the maintenance purchaser and project manager in the procurement of parts, batteries, and forklifts to obtain best possible pricing.
- Ensures monthly PM schedule is up to date and in compliance for MOL and customer audits.
- Trains new personnel in forklift and battery maintenance and repairs.
- Assists with maintaining both battery and forklift budgetary costs within approved levels.
- Participates with training plant personnel to safely drive forklifts, skyjacks, and rented aerial platforms.
- Oversees / Assists with large equipment moves in and around the plant as needed.
- Provides support to plant maintenance during slow periods or as an emergency backup.
- Participates in special projects, other duties or tasks that may be assigned as required.
- Ensures the health, safety, cleanliness, and security of the fork truck / battery bay area.
- Drives 5S culture inside the fork truck / battery bay area.
- Ensures compliance with all product food safety, legal, and quality requirements.
- Understands and complies with all company policies and procedures.
Qualifications :
- Specialized training in a recognized Community College program (Community College Program or equivalent) or Class A Mechanic or Millwright or Combination of work experience.
- More than 2 years of applicable experience. Crown and / or Raymond experience is considered an asset.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong multi-tasking and troubleshooting skills with an eye for continuous improvement.
- Strong ability and ability to drive closure
- Good Computer skills : Excel, Outlook, CMMS, Info link etc.
