Job Description
We are seeking a Contract Administrator to join our Infrastructure group that would apply their knowledge and previous work experience to manage construction of municipal infrastructure in Southern and Southwestern Ontario and GTA.
This role provides an exciting opportunity in construction management supporting our communities with vital water and Wastewater Infrastructure. This is a hybrid role.
A well-qualified Contract Administrator will work with our engineering team of designers and site representatives to provide contract administration and risk management, and to evaluate compliance requirements defined in construction contracts including review of regulations and Client requirements.
Primary Responsibilities
- Interpret contract documents and ensure compliance
- Manage the measurement of construction progress and the preparation of payment certificates
- Review, provide recommendations on, and resolve Contract Change Requests and Claims while managing change management processes
- Provide conflict resolution and field solutions with respect to unforeseen construction issues
- Manage responses to Requests for Information
- Lead construction progress meetings and prepare minutes
- Liaise with the contractor, client and Municipal officials on project updates and progress, including preparation and issuance of project reports
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- 5+ years of contract administration or relevant experience in construction / reconstruction of Water or Wastewater Infrastructure including Pumping Stations, Treatment or Storage.
- A thorough knowledge of construction and contracting principles, methods, procedures, and practices including contract administration relating to changes, claims and delays
- Licensed member of the Professional Engineers Ontario (PEO) or Certified Civil Engineering Technologist (C.E.T.) would be considered an asset
- Positive attitude with good leadership, communication and interpersonal skills
- Experience in project planning, risk management, cost management, schedule management and preparation / administration of contract documents and specifications
- Ability to interpret construction drawings and specifications
- Ability to work both independently and cooperatively as part of a team
- MTO Class G’ driver’s license in good standing and access to a personnel vehicle
- Effective communicator possessing demonstrated skills in dealing with other staff, contractors, and the public, with matters arising from construction projects
- Familiarity with current traffic control regulations
- Familiarity with relevant environmental regulations, municipal approvals and local by-laws
- Possess working knowledge of the Occupation Health and Safety Act and its Regulations, and Ontario Provincial Standards and Specifications (OPSS) for Municipal projects
- Demonstrate skills in the use of computer utilizing programs such as Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Project, Outlook)
