The Underwriting Analytics Specialist has significant impact on corporate underwriting integrity with specific emphasis on supporting risk control by monitoring, tracking and reporting on various risk measures through use of underwriting rules and various tools, databases, processes and external data sources.

This includes sourcing, collection, preparation and analyzing data to identify significant trends, gaps and issues, if any.

To subsequently work in collaboration with stakeholders towards resolving those issues and measuring improvement.

This applies to both legacy and Guidewire systems.

What you’ll do :

Responsible for creation and on-going support of data analytics models for reports that measure and validates the effectiveness of underwriting rules and practices.

This include developing new reports and analysis, enhance and automate regular reports using QLIK, support and deliver existing reports like, but not limited to

  • Underwriting Pass Rate and Rules analysis.
  • Transaction analysis - New Business, mid- term, and renewals.
  • Underwriting decisions for review broker, concierge and agency.
  • Data for QA Underwriting audits.
  • Risk Alert, Risk Sharing Pool, HITS, process monitoring for effective and timely actions.
  • Home inspection risk selection criteria and process monitoring.
  • Forensic review reports.
  • Large Loss reports.
  • Ad-Hoc requests
  • Produce and Present insights and analysis

You will work closely in collaboration with Underwriting Managers and Operations leaders to leverage, automate and improve existing data sources and management reports.

What you’ll bring :

The position requires a pro-active thinker who is result driven and takes ownership of various reports that support Underwriting Analytics.

Has a thorough understanding of business objectives and processes of Personal Lines Underwriting. Must be able to identify significant trends and impacts, then present findings in summary reports or dashboard or presentation for easy reference by business units.

Accountable for ensuring data integrity and accuracy in the output reports, by performing validation and reconciliation of data / queries and troubleshoot any data quality issues.

The specialist will also be able to help secure and develop new sources of data for underwriting analysis.

Qualifications

  • Advanced Insurance Acumen
  • Excellent analytical skills with extensive experience of handling, analyzing and reporting on large data sets using tools such as SAS, Business Objects and / or Qlik
  • Knowledge of SAS, MS Excel, and Business Objects is required.
  • Knowledge of Qlik Sense app design
  • Strong technical skills to deliver efficient, appropriate, and accurate information to the business using a variety of reporting tools (Qlik, Business Objects, Excel)
  • Ability to acquire new technical skills to keep pace with evolving data landscape.
  • Strong analytical skills and detail oriented.
  • Self-starter and proactive attitude with the capability to effectively execute end-to-end
  • deliverables.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet required deadlines
  • Organizational skills and be able to work in unstructured environment with minimal supervision.
  • Team player with high degree of collaboration, prioritizing and customer service skills.
  • Prior insurance knowledge (Broker Portal and Guidewire system) is required.
  • Insurance courses or CIP certification (or working towards) preferred.
