Thinkpath Engineering Services is looking for a Mechanical Design Engineer to fill a position located near Orangeville, ON.
This is a 6 month contract-to-hire position.
Responsibilities :
- Design and development of custom heavy equipment including conveyor and bulk material handling equipment using Solidworks.
- Design and analysis of industrial support structures.
- Provide mechanical calculations for custom equipment including gears, bearings, belts, drives and pulley systems.
- Interface with outside vendors for component selection.
- Develop CAD models and fabrication drawings in accordance with applicable standards
- Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, schematics and computer generated reports
- Provide technical support to fabrication and field services teams
- Conduct field inspections of existing structures and prepare reports.
- Assist colleagues with bids and tenders for new clients from a technical perspective
- Able to travel to customer sites to convey customer requirements to management.
Qualifications :
- University degree in Structural, Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
- 5 years of design experience with structural / mechanical components
- Experience in large bulk material handling equipment or conveyors.
- Proficient in 3-D Solidworks
- Strong structural design and analysis skills.
- Strong organisation and documentation skills.
- Good mechanical aptitude and knowledge of manufacturing methods and procedures
- Experience with project management is an asset.
