Thinkpath Engineering Services is looking for a Mechanical Design Engineer to fill a position located near Orangeville, ON.

This is a 6 month contract-to-hire position.

Responsibilities :

• Design and development of custom heavy equipment including conveyor and bulk material handling equipment using Solidworks.
• Design and analysis of industrial support structures.
• Provide mechanical calculations for custom equipment including gears, bearings, belts, drives and pulley systems.
• Interface with outside vendors for component selection.
• Develop CAD models and fabrication drawings in accordance with applicable standards
• Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, schematics and computer generated reports
• Provide technical support to fabrication and field services teams
• Conduct field inspections of existing structures and prepare reports.
• Assist colleagues with bids and tenders for new clients from a technical perspective
• Able to travel to customer sites to convey customer requirements to management.

Qualifications :

• University degree in Structural, Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
• 5 years of design experience with structural / mechanical components
• Experience in large bulk material handling equipment or conveyors.
• Proficient in 3-D Solidworks
• Strong structural design and analysis skills.
• Strong organisation and documentation skills.
• Good mechanical aptitude and knowledge of manufacturing methods and procedures
• Experience with project management is an asset.
