Student Engagement and Retention (SER) provides and facilitates transformative, engaging opportunities that foster students' holistic development, sense of belonging, and academic success. This includes designing and delivering new student transition programs that welcome, inform, and connect incoming students to the SFU community. We support the university's academic mission by helping students successfully navigate their transition to university and by administering institution-wide student success and retention initiatives, including the Back on Track program.
About the Role
Coordinates the delivery of all Student Engagement and Retention appointments, activities, programs, and other events. Provides support to the Peer, Leadership and myInvolvement programs, which include preparing and distributing unit and program materials, monitoring and processing program registrations and unit activities, working with other units on campus to arrange program logistics, and updating student records, as needed. Provides administrative, clerical and secretarial support services to the Student Engagement and Retention, Student Success and Strategic Support unit. Reconciles and monitors operating budgets and prepares projections for review by the Associate Director, Director, and/or Administrator. Provides support for the myInvolvement Implementation Project, including providing individual and group user training. Acts as a resource person and provides information on myInvolvement, the student co-curricular record system, and other unit programs.
Qualifications
High school graduation and two years of post-secondary education including training in word processing, database, spreadsheet and web updating applications; bookkeeping/basic accounting principles. 3 years of related experience.
- Exceptional oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
- Meticulous attention to detail and accuracy.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
- Excellent teamwork and collaboration skills.
- Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with discretion.
