POSITIONDESCRIPTION :

Thisis a great role for someone looking to take the next step in theircareer and has already worked in challenging senioraccountant / manager roles in the past and is looking for somethingexciting.

Reportingto the Controller the Accounting Manager M&A Integrationsupports all new mergers and acquisition (M&A) withdetailed level of precision and accuracy.

Specifically they will beresponsible for full cycle accounting oversight andtransactionlevel support ownership of GL coding control andperforming entries operational ownership of the month end calendarand close process and support on yearendaudit.

RESPONSIBILITIESACCOUNTABILITIES ANDDELIVERABLES :

  • DriveM&A integration process for new acquisitions (asset andequity deals) including postclosing adjustments and standardizingaccounting processes.
  • Experiencewith longterm contracts and percentage ofcompletion
  • Focussolely on acquisition integrations impact on financial reportingnot preacquisition duediligence / valuation.
  • Collaboratewith a consulting firm for opening balance sheetadjustments.
  • SupportController in Month End Close Reporting Audit and Taxtasks.
  • Preparejournal entries and ensure accurate GLcoding.
  • Reviewlongterm service contracts for proper revenuerecognition.
  • MonitorWIP / unearned revenue accounts and contractmargins.
  • Leadinventory count / postclose duringacquisitions.
  • Maintainand reconcile detailed lead sheets for balance sheets and incomestatementaccounts.
  • Planand execute interim annual inventory counts ensuring accuratemeasurement andcosting.
  • Partnerwith sitelevel acquisitions for KPI metrics and ad hocsupport.
  • Ensurefinancial systems integrity and identify ERPenhancements.
  • Workwith IT to optimize acquisition ERP systems and align with HQrequirements.
  • ReviewPayroll and Benefit payouts for accuracy collaborating closely withHR.
  • Performother assigned duties asneeded.

Requirements

  • Seekingcandidates with 510 years of experience in accounting adept atexplaining complex accounting concepts to junior staffpostacquisition.
  • Preferablyholds CPAdesignation.
  • Priorexperience in service companies (IT engineering construction) ispreferred.
  • Familiaritywith longterm revenue service maintenance models and longtermcontractaccounting.
  • Proficientin Microsoft Office suite particularly in setting up cleantraceable spreadsheets and manipulating large dataset fordecisionmaking.
  • StrongIT and ERP systems knowledge including integration withlineofbusinessapplications.
  • Experiencewith Sage QuickBooks or IFS isadvantageous.
  • Excellentwritten and verbal communicationskills.
  • Willingnessto travel within Canada and the US (up to1015%).
  • Idealcandidates may have exposure to industrial manufacturing or servicecompanies standard costing and integratedERPs.
  • Additionalbeneficial experiences include working with Concur ExpenseCeridian / ADP Payroll corporate income state / provincial sales taxand Power BI or SQLdatabases.

Target profilehas 5-10 yrs experience and has the technical skills in accountingto understand acquisition and systems to explain accounting tojunior accountants which we hire to ensure they follow properprocesses post-acquisition.

Professional designation (CPA)preferred. Experience working in a service company (IT,engineering, construction) as these companies have more long-termrevenue service maintenance model.

1. long term contracts andunderstanding % completion, long term contract accounting. 2. someof these sites have inventory (does not need to be expert inmanufacturing) but if they have dealt with inventory will beimportant to do physical counts at these sites.

Advancedproficiency in Microsoft Office suite (i) set up workbooks / spreadsheets with clean, traceable formulas so reviewers can easilyfollow your work and (ii) manipulate large datasets, pivot, cut,clean and then present for decision making.

Strong IT and ERPsystems knowledge deep understanding of accounting integration withline-of-business applications, ability to drive ERP improvementsthrough design, ability to troubleshoot and resolve issues.

Experience working with Sage, QuickBooks, IFS would be an asset.Excellent written and verbal communication skills Able to travel inCanada and the US (up to 10-15% travel) The ideal candidate alsohas some, but not all, of the following : Experience working in anindustrial manufacturing or service company, with exposure tostandard costing.

Experience designing and working with any of (i)integrated accounting + line-of-business ERPs, (ii) Concur Expense,(iii) Ceridian / ADP Payroll and setting up codes / categories acrossall of them to ensure accurate data capture and financialreporting.

Experience with both corporate income and state / provincial sales tax across Canada and the US Experience workingwith Power BI and / or SQL databases.
