CNC Manufacturing Engineering Specialist

What you’ll do :

  • Plan, develop, write, revise, document, test, implement and control programming for CNC machines
  • Review inspection requirements and program Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMM)
  • Manage equipment calibration schedules and preventative maintenance activities
  • Liaison with Enterprise Manufacturing sites regarding component repairs, inspection and compliance
  • Define compliance requirements during audits and support OEM repair approval process
  • Provides support, training, procedures, work instructions, and problem resolution to Technicians
  • Prepares technical specifications and cost benefit analysis for procurement of capital equipment
  • Complete special projects which may involve travel to support worldwide Enterprise Manufacturing facilities
  • Responsible for observing all applicable safety requirements and reporting immediately any unsafe practices / conditions
  • Responsible for directing operational compliance to Company Process (CP) documentation
  • Drive best practices and business improvement opportunities through an Enterprise Network of Aerospace Professionals

What skills you will require :

  • Ability to read, understand, and interpret technical drawings. Thorough knowledge of GD&T
  • Thorough knowledge of CNC machining and programming.
  • Experience in manufacturing or production environment
  • Ability to use CAD software.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, oral and written communication skills
  • University degree in mechanical, industrial, aerospace, or metallurgical engineering; or,
  • College Diploma in Manufacturing Technology; or equivalent

Preferred characteristics :

  • Experience with custom macro programming, probe programming and use of logic functions
  • Expertise in the design and selection of tooling and fixtures
  • Experience programming CMMs or interpreting CMM results of machined components. Proficiency in MCOSMOS is an asset
  • Experience with Mastercam is an asset
  • Experience with AutoCAD Inventor is an asset
  • Experience with electrostatic discharge machining (EDM), shot peening, precision grinding, waterjet, and bench repair is an asset
  • Working knowledge of Torque, Precision Welding, and metallurgical considerations is an asset
  • Understanding of repair design, development of manufacturing processes, tool design & selection, knowledge of aerospace fabrication methods and processes.
  • Experience teaching, training, and qualifying Technicians or Engineers in mechanical aspects of Aerospace Manufacturing
  • Thorough knowledge of Failure Modes and Effects Analysis
  • Working knowledge of Visual Basic (VBA) is an asset
