What You Will Do

The Director of Finance is a tactic focused and results-oriented leader, responsible for overseeing all financial reporting and management at WalterFedy.

This role encompasses a broad range of finance functions, including team leadership, FP&A (financial planning and analysis), cash flow management, merger and acquisition integration, and strategic execution.

As the Director of Finance, you will be responsible for developing and implementing a robust FP&A program and ensuring the finance function is well-positioned to support the organization's growth initiatives with a mandate to improve operations each year.

This position serves as a key business partner to the Executive and Senior Leadership teams, providing financial insights and guidance to support strategic and operational decision-making.

Key Performance Metrics

  • Timely and accurate preparation of financial statements and management reporting on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis.
  • Implementing plans to improve cashflow incrementally year on year.
  • Development of a functioning finance team through strong leadership and implementation of a training and development program.
  • Creation of a comprehensive FP&A program that assists business units with timely reporting, project analysis, and KPI monitoring.
  • M&A (Mergers & Acquisitions) analysis, diligence, and integration planning.
  • Embrace technology and our innovation culture through leverage AI
  • Ensuring company-wide compliance of internal controls.
  • Ability to develop and execute process improvements that drive accuracy and efficiency.
  • Timely response to internal queries for information and / or assistance.
  • Review of significant contracts for completeness.

Key Accountabilities

Functional

  • Oversee the accurate and timely delivery of financial reporting, management reports and variance analysis on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis.
  • Maintain all accounting policy documentation and educate internal stakeholders.
  • Manage and oversee system updates and controls, including ERP upgrades
  • Assess the impact of changes in the business on internal controls, update narratives, design new controls and review system testing results as needed.
  • Serve as a primary liaison with external auditors, banks, insurance providers, and other key stakeholders, ensuring transparent communication and alignment on financial matters.
  • Provide financial expertise, analysis, and recommendations in cross-functional team project setting and present findings and specific recommendations to management.
  • Maintains professional and technical knowledge by reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks, and participating in professional societies.
  • Recognizes, communicates, and advises on weaknesses in business operations, guiding the business to solve root causes and improve performance.
  • Manage and oversee corporate budgeting program.
  • Champion the adoption of digital tools and technologies that enhance financial reporting, project management, and operational efficiency.
  • Challenge the status quo by consistently identifying areas for improvement, diagnosing issues, and working to resolve them.

Strategic

  • Support WalterFedy goals by executing short to mid-term departmental goals (1 year).
  • Maintain strategic foresight by identifying customer and business needs and adjusting departmental and team objectives accordingly.
  • Lead and support M&A activities and detailed integration planning.
  • Lead, oversee and champion all change management initiatives.

People

  • Build strong teams by attracting and developing the best talent.

  • Act as a strategic partner to project managers and senior leadership, providing financial insights that drive project and business success.

What You Bring to the Table

Work Experience / Education / Certifications

  • CPA designation required, MBA is considered an asset
  • University degree in Accounting, Business or Finance
  • Minimum of 10 years of finance, audit, accounting, and / or reporting experience including managing finance policies, KPIs (Key Performance Indicators), audit, reporting and taxation
  • Minimum of 5 years of management experience with increasing leadership roles, including leading large teams having a mix of transactional and professional staff

Competencies / Skills / Attributes

  • Strong technical knowledge of GAAP and Finance systems and technology
  • Knowledge of financial dashboard systems
  • Experience in professional service industry and previous M&A experience a bonus
  • Exceptional written and oral communication skills
  • System enhancement / upgrade and advanced technology knowlege
  • Ability to collaborate with people at all levels of the organization.
  • Strong knowledge of Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
  • Proven leadership skills for both project and people
  • Must have initiative, curious mind and a self-starter.
  • Solid record of delivering results
