Position Overview :
We are looking for an experienced Project Manager (P.Eng or EIT) to join our team on a contract basis with no fixed end date.
This role involves managing the entire lifecycle of diverse construction projects, including feasibility assessments, securing capital through grants, design management, tendering, construction oversight, and project closeout.
The position is ideal for a self-driven professional who is passionate about making a positive impact, especially in supporting Indigenous communities.
Key Responsibilities :
- Project Leadership : Manage all phases of construction projects, including feasibility studies, capital funding applications (focused on grants for Indigenous Nations), project initiation, and project planning.
- Design Management : Lead and coordinate all design stages, from conceptual through detailed design, ensuring alignment with project goals and client expectations.
- Tender and Contract Management : Oversee the tendering process, contract awards, and contractor negotiations to secure cost-effective agreements.
- Construction Management : Supervise construction activities, ensuring compliance with schedule, budget, quality, and safety standards.
- Cost & Schedule Control : Implement robust cost management, change management, and scheduling practices to deliver projects on time and within budget.
- Quantity Surveying : Perform quantity take-offs, cost estimates, and financial forecasting to ensure accurate budgeting.
- Stakeholder Engagement : Act as the primary liaison for clients, including Indigenous Nations, contractors, and consultants, ensuring clear communication and alignment throughout the project.
- Project Closure : Complete project closeout activities, including final payment releases, documentation, and smooth handover to clients.
Qualifications :
- Registered Professional Engineer (P.Eng) in the Province of Alberta.
- EITs with relevant experience will be considered.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering.
- 5+ years of experience in managing commercial, institutional, or senior housing construction projects.
- 2+ years of experience as an owners representative Project Manager
- Proven experience in securing capital funding through grants, especially for Indigenous communities.
- Strong understanding of Canadian construction contracts (e.g., CCDC), design processes, and construction management.
- Proficient in project controls, including cost management, scheduling, and change control.
- Exceptional communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to work in remote locations and engage with Indigenous communities effectively.
