The West Vancouver Human Resources Department is currently seeking a permanent, full-time Human Resources Associate. If you are an energetic, detail-oriented, and resourceful problem solver with a can-do attitude, this is the perfect opportunity for you.
Reporting to the Manager of Human Resources, the successful candidate will be responsible for :
- Providing thoughtful support to a team of HR, Labour Relations, and Occupational Health & Safety professionals.
- Preparing sensitive, confidential correspondence, documents, and reports.
- Providing front-line services and support to employees and managers in relation to HR processes, policies, collective agreements, and established interpretations.
- Participating in the recruitment process, including leading line managers through full cycle recruitment.
- Creating job postings and coordinating the District’s online recruitment and application process.
- Coordinating and leading specific District HR initiatives.
- Supporting and contributing to the ongoing development, implementation, coordination, and administration of employee engagement programs.
- Participating in confidential Labour Relations meetings by documenting, and at times leading basic fact-gathering workplace investigations.
- Assisting with corporate training initiatives and programs, including developing themes, researching vendors, and organizing training sessions.
- Assisting with disability case management, WorkSafe BC reporting and inquiries, and occupational health and wellness initiatives and processes.
- Coordinating HR statistical data such as risk management and HR metrics.
- Handling all aspects of Municipal Pension Plan queries.
- Performing other related duties as required.
Requirements :
- The preferred candidate will possess : a general knowledge of HR policies, procedures, relevant acts, regulations, guidelines, and collective agreements;
- a meticulous attention to detail; a passion for labour relations and keen demonstrated interest in progressing in a multi-union government environment;
- the ability to develop relationships and communicate effectively; knowledge of the principles, standards, and practices of the relevant areas of Human Resources;
and considerable knowledge of Microsoft Office. The successful candidate will have completed a degree or diploma in Human Resources or a related field plus relevant experience working in a unionized environment.
An equivalent combination of education and experience will also be considered. A current BC Driver’s License and full-time access to a vehicle is required.
The successful candidate will be required to supply an acceptable Police Information Check and a copy of their credentials.

Hours of Work : 35 hours per week (hours and days of work may vary)
Rate of Pay : $76,200.00 - $85,700.00 (2022 rates)
