Job description

Our client, is seeking an experienced, highly collaborative Systems Engineer (Workday Application Engineer) to join their People & Culture Technology team.

In this mission-critical engineering role, you will design, configure, implement, and continuously enhance scalable solutions across the enterprise Workday platform. Combining deep Workday HCM expertise with disciplined application engineering principles, you will translate complex business needs into secure, maintainable, and high-performing technical capabilities that support global workforce operations. You will build and optimize business processes, condition rules, role-based security models, advanced calculated fields, and custom reports. In addition, you will partner closely with integration engineers, product managers, and solution architects to assess downstream system impacts, support semiannual release updates, and resolve complex production incidents.

Duration: 12-Month Contract (Full-time engagement)

Advantages
Global Brand Recognition: Shape and optimize the core HR systems landscape for a world-renowned, high-growth enterprise brand.

12-Month Long-Term Stability: Secure a full-year contract mandate with continuous platform enhancement and release cycles.

End-to-End Application Ownership: Lead solutions through the complete engineering lifecycle—from initial requirements translation and hands-on configuration to deployment validation and sustainment.

Collaborative Cross-Functional Environment: Work alongside forward-thinking technology product managers, enterprise architects, scrum masters, and global People & Culture business leaders.

Responsibilities
Workday Solution Design & Configuration: Architect, configure, test, and deploy scalable solutions across Workday HCM, supporting complex global workforce business processes, custom business objects, condition rules, and workflow routings.

Security & Governance Administration: Configure and maintain Workday security policies (domain and business process security) in strict accordance with least-privilege principles and enterprise governance standards.

Reporting & Data Solutions: Build and maintain advanced Workday reports, complex calculated fields, and data validation matrices to support operational auditing, reconciliation, and executive analytics.

Integration Collaboration & Data Flows: Collaborate closely with integration engineers and architects on data mapping, APIs, web services, and enterprise integration patterns connecting Workday to third-party platforms.

Downstream Impact Assessments: Analyze downstream impacts of configuration changes, security adjustments, and schema updates on interconnected systems, APIs, reporting, and payroll dependencies.

Release & Lifecycle Management: Lead testing and deployment activities for Workday feature releases, including tenant regression testing, feature impact evaluations, and new capability adoption.

Root-Cause Analysis & Support: Investigate and troubleshoot complex configuration defects, integration exceptions, and tenant anomalies, delivering permanent remediation and preventive improvements.

Documentation & Knowledge Sharing: Author and maintain comprehensive technical design documents, configuration runbooks, and test matrices while sharing application engineering best practices across the team.

Qualifications
Education: Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Business Technology Management, Business Administration, or equivalent practical industry experience.

Professional Experience: 4–8 years of hands-on experience designing, configuring, implementing, and supporting enterprise SaaS platforms and HR technology solutions.

Hands-on Workday HCM Mastery: Proven, hands-on track record configuring and supporting Workday HCM within a complex, large-scale enterprise environment.

Platform Architecture Depth: Strong working knowledge of Workday business processes, calculated fields, custom reporting, domain security, tenant configuration, and lifecycle management.

Integration Literacy: Solid understanding of enterprise application integration architectures, data movement, APIs, and data transformation frameworks.

Troubleshooting & Diagnostics: Proven ability to diagnose complex, multi-system issues and identify root causes across configurations, calculated fields, security permissions, and data flows.

Communication & Partnership: Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to bridge conversations between non-technical HR business partners, scrum delivery leads, and technical software engineers.

Preferred Assets & Nice-to-Haves
Hands-on functional exposure to Workday Recruiting and/or Workday Adaptive Planning.

Formal credentials such as Workday Pro or official Workday functional/technical certifications.

Prior experience delivering Workday engineering in a multi-region, global enterprise footprint.

Experience with automated test execution, configuration validation tools, or release automation processes.

Summary
If you are a tech-savvy Systems Engineer who pairs 4–8 years of enterprise SaaS experience with deep, hands-on Workday HCM configuration mastery, advanced business process design, and strong security and reporting skills, this 12-month contract opportunity is an ideal next step. Bring your platform engineering precision, analytical problem-solving abilities, and collaborative mindset to our client's team today!
