Boeing Vancouver is currently looking for a Senior Solution Architect to join our team in Richmond, BC.

The Solution Architect must have a broad technical background with experience in leading edge, cloud native, AI driven solutions and modernizing a large portfolio of legacy applications. The candidate needs strong technology leadership, analytical skills, teamwork, and excellent communication skills. The candidate will need to communicate at different levels in the organization to other technical personnel, business leaders and customers. This role will drive innovative, evolutionary, reliable, scalable solutions that advance efficiency and safety in the aviation industry.


Position Responsibilities:

  • Partner with senior business and technology leaders to understand the business and needs that drive technology decisions.

  • Create and execute technology roadmaps

  • Focus on modernization of legacy, monolithic applications, and architecting innovative, greenfield applications.

  • Select strategies, patterns, practices and approaches for modernizing and refactoring legacy applications and enable product teams to adopt, all while continuing development and maintenance on existing applications.

  • Design applications to be adaptable, cost-optimized, cloud-native SaaS technologies in a globally distributed, multi-platform environment.

  • Leverage your knowledge and experience to make technology decisions that drive innovation and agility while minimizing risks and costs.

  • Own the creation of mechanisms and architectural artifacts that communicate technology adoption, decisions and how applications are hosted, built and deployed.

  • Own the Architectural Standards and Practices while allowing differentiation specific to our business division goals.

  • Assist in evaluation of products for being well-architected and well-managed.

  • Work closely with Information Security Office and Enterprise Cloud to ensure security standards and regulatory compliance minimum requirements are adhered to.

This position is hybrid. This means that the selected candidate will be required to perform some work onsite at one of the listed location options. This is at the hiring team’s discretion and could potentially change in the future.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • 10+ years of experience working and executing with software development design patterns, methodology and life cycle, including:

  • 5+ Years of experience with Legacy technology modernization and refactoring techniques such as domain driven design (DDD), event storming, strangler fig, transitional architectures, etc;

  • 5+ Years of experience with distributed, cloud-native, API and Microservices architecture including service orchestration.

  • 5+ years of experience developing and operating microservice, containerized, or serverless applications.

  • Experience with application performance management technologies, diagnostics, and issue resolution management.

  • Experience in development frameworks, cloud native technologies and tools, such as CI/CD pipelines, UML, Java, .Net, Docker, Kubernetes, JavaScript, AWS/Azure Cloud.

  • Experience with delivering High Availability (HA), resilient solutions that meet regulatory requirements and information security standards.

  • Experience in AI: Familiarity with AI/ML frameworks and tools (e.g., AWS Q, GitHub CoPilot, Claude CODE) and understanding of AI concepts, algorithms, and applications.

  • Must be legally able to work in Canada.

  • Individual must not pose a risk for safeguarding controlled goods.

  • Must be eligible to handle US export-controlled data.

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor's degree or higher.

  • Knowledge of the Cloud Well-Architected principles.

  • Designing Big Data Solutions, Medallion architecture and Distributed Data Mesh (e.g. experience with Databricks, Palantir, Snowflake etc.).

  • Strong interpersonal, communication and organization skills.

  • Experience with enabling an organization centric targeted to business outcomes.

  • Ability to inspire and lead.

  • Proven experience to research, advise, compare and recommend technology solutions; ability to demonstrate and maintain method of keeping current on new technologies.

  • Ability to understand the big picture and the inter-relationships of all positions and activities in the system, including the impact of changes in one area on another area. This includes the ability to see and understand the inter-relationships between components of systems and plans, anticipate future events, and apply the principles of systems thinking to accelerate performance.

  • Experience with airplane health and maintenance domains.

This requisition is for a locally hired position in Canada. The employer is Boeing Canada. Candidates must be legally authorized to work in Canada. Benefits and pay are determined by Canada and are not on Boeing US-based payroll. This is not an expatriate assignment.

Starting salary will be based on year of post-secondary education completed, qualifications and experience.

Salary pay range Level 5 - $124,000.00 - $222,000.00 CAD
