PHP Developer | EdTech & LMS Focus
Location: PrimaCorp Head Office – New Westminster, BC (On-site)
Salary: Starting at $65,000 per year
Role Type: Full-Time, Permanent
The Reality of the Role: This is a hands-on coding role. While communication is valued, your primary output will be clean, high-performance PHP and complex SQL. We are looking for a developer who prefers the "how" over the "why" and is comfortable diving into deep-tier backend architecture, legacy code refactoring, and database optimization. If you are a generalist or a coordinator, this is likely not the role for you.
Technical "Must-Haves"
-
Deep PHP Logic: 5+ years of professional experience. You should be able to discuss OOP, design patterns, and how you handle memory management in PHP without hesitation.
-
The "Heavy" Backend: Extensive experience building custom modules and plugins from scratch (specifically for Moodle or similar large-scale frameworks).
-
Database Mastery: You don't just "use" MySQL; you understand indexing, query execution plans, and how to normalize data for high-traffic environments.
-
Server Logic: Proficiency in Linux CLI. You should be comfortable managing environments and troubleshooting server-side bottlenecks.
The Impact You’ll Make
As our PHP Developer, you will move beyond simple coding to become a technical partner in our business objectives. You will:
-
Architect & Refine: Expand the functionality of existing systems using modern software development best practices.
-
Code for Quality: Write well-designed, testable, and high-performance code that stands the test of time.
-
Lead Security: Implement and maintain robust security measures across all application layers.
-
Data Integration: Seamlessly migrate and integrate data from various back-end services and relational databases.
-
Problem Solve: Provide critical application support by troubleshooting and resolving technical bottlenecks.
What You Bring to the Table
Technical Requirements
-
Experience: 3+ years in web development with a strong portfolio.
-
Core Stack: 2+ years of professional experience with PHP, JavaScript (jQuery), JSON, HTML5, and CSS3 (Bootstrap).
-
Databases: Proficiency in MySQL and relational database design.
-
Environment: Hands-on experience with Linux servers.
-
Education: Degree/Diploma in Computer Science, Web Development, or Graphic Design (Bachelor’s preferred).
Top-Tier Assets
Skills for Success
-
Agility: Ability to multitask and thrive under the pressure of multiple deadlines.
-
Independence: A self-starter who works well with minimal supervision but loves collaborating in a fast-paced team.
-
Growth Mindset: A genuine willingness to learn new languages, frameworks, and tools as the tech landscape evolves.
-
Professionalism: A customer-focused approach with the tact and discretion required for a corporate head office environment.
