Overview
Senior Signal Integrity and Power Integrity (SI / PI) Engineer at Alphawave Semi. We are looking for the Wavemakers of tomorrow. Alphawave Semi enables tomorrow’s future by accelerating critical data communication at the heart of the digital world – from video streaming to AI, the metaverse, and more. Our technology powers product innovation in data centers, networking, storage, artificial intelligence, 5G wireless infrastructure, and autonomous vehicles.
Role : Senior Signal Integrity and Power Integrity (SI / PI) Engineer – focus on high-speed electrical wireline systems. The successful candidate will design, analyze, and optimize high-performance interconnects and ensure signal and power integrity across high-speed package, chip-on-board, PCB, and cable designs.
What You’ll Do
- Conduct SI / PI simulations and analysis for high-speed interfaces (e.g., 106 Gbps and higher PAM4 differential signaling)
- Develop simulation models based on electromagnetic analysis for PCB traces, vias, connectors, cables, IC packages, and photonics interconnects
- Perform frequency-domain and time-domain analysis, including S-parameters, impedance matching, crosstalk, return loss, insertion loss, and power supply AC noise analysis
- Collaborate with cross-functional IC design teams to optimize high-speed interface layouts and floorplans across various interconnect technologies (e.g., C4 / uC4 bump maps)
- Define design guidelines and develop reference designs for high-speed interconnects and PDN
- Coordinate with internal teams and external partners for hardware design, PCB layout, and manufacturing to ensure SI / PI performance
- Validate SI / PI performance through lab measurements using oscilloscopes, VNAs, TDR, and other test equipment
- Identify and mitigate signal degradation issues such as reflections, jitter, and noise coupling
- Support package and PCB stack-up design, material selection, and layout optimization for high-speed routing
- Drive improvements in design methodologies and best practices for high-speed electrical systems
What You’ll Need
Masters / PhD in Electrical / Computer Engineering or related fieldExperience with electromagnetic modelling and simulationStrong understanding of microwave / RF and SI / PI fundamentals, including transmission line theory, s-parameters, crosstalk, channel simulation, PDN and EMIRProficiency with EDA tools : Keysight ADS, Ansys HFSS / SIwave, Cadence Sigrity PowerSI / DC, or similarAbility to interpret s-parameters, impedance profiles, and PDN characteristicsExperience with high-speed IC package and PCB designProficiency with lab equipment for SI / PI validation (oscilloscopes, TDR, VNA, spectrum analyzers)It’d Be Amazing If You Had
Familiarity with IEEE 802.3 Ethernet and OIF standardsExperience with high-speed NRZ and PAM4 SerDes (106 Gbps and higher)Understanding of digital and analog equalization and IBIS-AMI modelingScripting knowledge (Python, MATLAB, etc.) for automation of SI / PI simulationsWork Environment and Benefits
