Backhoe Operator

Park Paving Ltd. has been locally owned and operated for almost 50 years as one of the largest road construction contractors in Edmonton, and we are looking for an EXPERIENCED BACKHOE OPERATOR to join our team to finish out the 2024 road construction season.

This position operates on a 6 day work week (Monday - Saturday with the occasional Sunday) with a shift of 8 - 12 hours a day,

This is a full time seasonal position that offers a competitive wage with benefits.

The primary duties will include but are not limited to :

• Ensure pre-trips and all Daily Equipment Checklists are completed daily and any equipment concerns are addressed to your foreman.
• Complete all daily maintenance on equipment required for continued safe functioning.
• Efficiently move material : dumping, placing, and loading of material into trucks.
• Hauling trailers, equipment, cement, or construction materials, in accordance with all safe work practices and legal regulations /

In addition, you may be asked to perform general labour duties as needed. These tasks could include but are not limited to :

Performs general labourer work : digging, shoveling, raking, hammering pins, sweeping, operating small compaction gear (jumping jacks, tampers, etc.

using a concrete chop saw, and other labour activities associated with constructing the required project.

• Placement of construction materials (by hand or use of equipment)
• Setup, check, and compact granular base materials to meet construction specifications required for the project.
• Remove rubble and other debris at construction sites.
• Raise and lower catch basins, manholes, and water valves, as required.

They will also possess a valid driver’s license and have a strong drive to contribute to the team's success by working with operators and other crew members to perform a wide range of duties.

Successful candidates must have a driving record free of major infractions, and must pass a medical / fitness exam, as conditions of employment.

Pay Scale $26.75 - $31.50
