This position will be part of the Distribution Centre and Transportation team which has responsibility for the processing of inbound and outbound shipments across the country.
The Yard Controller will report to the Yard Assistant Manager and work closely with both our Transportation team and our Distribution team to ensure product flows efficiently in and out of the Distribution Centre, off-site yards and the main yard.
Key Responsibilities :
Day to Day Activity
- Utilizing Zebra YMS, monitor and adjust open trailer move request
- Twice daily YMS / Yard checks with necessary updates and reporting
- Manage and maintain all require 3PL carriers trailer pool ( Total vs empty, dry vs heated)
- Book all OB loads traveling on CP Rail network, within 30 min of receiving OBTR (East / West)
- Placard dangerous goods load as need be
Problem Solving
- Coordinate all timely trailer repairs on site
- Yard winter condition review. Ensure snow scraper area is kept clear of build up
- Primary point of call for yard freight spill
- CP container updates and status change utilizing the CP portal
Reporting
- SFC REPORT - Yard Capacity, carrier pools, trailers in doors / yard, open shunt tasks etc.
- Trailer safety checks along with on site aging
- Weekly shunt analysis
- FIFO for any container trailers
