The Role

This position is responsible for the design, deployment, management, and security of storage and compute infrastructure for MCAP.

This includes the planning, management and monitoring of the physical server and storage infrastructure, as well as, the deployment, monitoring and management of the Operating Systems.

The Director Systems Engineering will also lead recruitment, retention, development, and succession of the Systems Engineering workforce.

This role will support and optimize business, personnel, technical and production leadership. This role will also support their teams and the IT department to achieve MCAP's Vision, Mission, Objectives, and Values.

Strategy and Planning

• Collaborate with Architecture Team on development of overall infrastructure strategy, standards, capability needs, and lifecycle management
• Collaborate with management and department leaders to assess near- and long-term desktop, mobile, data center and cloud service needs.
• Provide budgetary inputs to 3-year forecast - identifying key infrastructure projects and expenses to ensure technology lifecycle standards are maintained and required system capabilities are met.
• Work with appropriate stakeholders to define and prioritize capability needs, requirements and goals in order to identify solutions to business needs.
• Performs estimating, prioritizing, planning and coordinating of work to reliably and consistently deliver according to plan.
• Contribute to MCAP's Innovation and R&D program to continuously optimize operations and drive beneficial change in people, process, and technology.
• Collaborate with IT and business leaders to determine new opportunities, risks, and threats and contribute to development of associated plans.

Acquisition and Deployment

• Direct research on software and systems products to justify recommendations and to support purchasing efforts.
• Oversee new and existing equipment, hardware, and software upgrades.
• Perform cost-benefit and return on investment analyses for proposed systems to aid management in making implementation decisions.
• Identify requirements and manage the procurement process and vendor selection for new technologies.

Operational Management

• Oversee servers, including but not limited to database, file, web, print, and backup servers and their associated operating systems and software
• Oversee creation and maintenance of operational documentation as it relates to infrastructure configuration, disaster recovery, processes, and service records.
• Propose and create system design models, specifications, diagrams, and charts to provide direction to system programmer and development teams.
• Direct and oversee the design and perform server and security audits, system backup procedures, and other recovery processes in accordance with the company's disaster recovery and business continuity strategies.
• Collaborate with staff to ensure smooth and reliable operation of software and systems for fulfilling business objectives and processes.
• Monitor and test system performance; prepare and deliver system performance statistics and reports; determine action plans as required.
• Provide orientation and training to end users for all modified and new systems.
• Develop and test scripts, programs, code, and configuration in support of optimizing routine operations and tasks.
• Perform troubleshooting and root cause analysis in support of incident and problem management. Recommended options to address identified issues.
• Ensure all server and storage assets are maintained to MCAP's Threat Vulnerability Management and hardening standards.

What You Bring To The Team

• 10+ years of progressive IT experience, including 5 years of managing teams
• Experience in the Financial Services industry, in particular mortgages
• In-depth understanding of Information Technology concepts
• Ability to balance risk, cost, and benefit
• Ability to work in a fast paced environment with a high degree of change and competing

• Windows / Linux enterprise server platforms.
• Hypervisor technologies (Broadcom, OpenShift)
• Systems Monitoring (SolarWinds SAM / VMAN)
• Database Systems (SQL Server, MongoDB, MySQL)
• Backup Technologies
• Container Technology (e.g. Docker / Kubernetes)
