Work environment

Fueled by a dedicated workforce, Transport Canadas Aircraft Services Directorate is seeking Surveillance Pilots who are looking to work within a federal organization reporting to the National Capital Region, located across the country.

The Aircraft Services Directorate (ASD) is responsible for the provision of aviation services in support of Transport Canada and the Canadian Coast Guard operations as well as those of other federal departments and agencies.

Intent of the process

This is an anticipatory process to create a pool of qualified candidates to staff future needs at Transport Canada nationally.

The positions to be staffed may have various tenures, various language requirements, and various security requirements.

In order to be considered, your application must clearly explain how you meet the following (essential qualifications)

ESSENTIAL EDUCATION :

ED : A secondary school diploma or an acceptable combination of education, training and / or experience.

ESSENTIAL OCCUPATIONAL CERTIFICATIONS :

OC1 : Possession of a valid Canadian Airline Transport Pilot License - Aeroplane Category with a Group 1 Instrument Rating.

OC2 : Possession of a valid Restricted Radio-Telephone Operator Certificate (endorsed aeronautical).

ESSENTIAL EXPERIENCES :

EX1 : A minimum of hours of flight time.

If you possess any of the following, your application must also clearly explain how you meet it (other qualifications)

ASSET EXPERIENCES :

AEX1 : A minimum of hours instrument flight time ( hours actual).

AEX2 : A minimum of hours as a pilot in command of multi-engine turbine powered airplanes.

AEX3 : A minimum of hours as a pilot in command of a turboprop aircraft with a MCTOW of more than kg (19, pounds) and for which a Canadian type certificate has been issued authorizing the transport of 20 or more passengers.

AEX4 : A minimum of hours as a pilot in command of a Dehavilland Dash 8 aircraft.

AEX5 : Experience flying aircraft on the British Columbia West Coast operating under both visual flight rules and instrument flight rules.

AEX6 : Experience working with Dash 7.

Note on Asset Experience : Asset qualifications are not mandatory qualifications to the position. You do not need to answer the screening questions for the assets qualifications.

However, if you meet one or more, you are strongly encouraged to answer asset qualifications questions in your online application as they may be used at any stage in the process or be a deciding factor in choosing the person to be considered for an appointment.

K2 : Knowledge of the Canadian Aviation Regulations and Standards governing the operation of Fixed Wing Aircraft under subpart - Aerial Work.

OTHER CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT :

Possess and maintain a valid driver's license.

Possess and maintain a valid Canadian Passport.

Maintain a valid Aviation Medical Category 1.

Successful completion of requirements associated with the issuance of a Restricted Area Identification Card (RAIC) in order to obtain and maintain it.

Must be willing and able to undertake Underwater Emergency Egress Training.

Must be willing and able to work overtime on short notice.

Must be willing and able to travel by various modes to remote locations, domestically and abroad with typical crew assignments lasting three weeks.

Must be willing and able to work in an aviation environment (i.e., noise, fumes, and hazards).

People selected for an appointment must meet and maintain the above conditions of employment throughout their employment.
