Database Administrator Role Profile

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Database Administrator to manage and maintain our company's databases. The ideal candidate will be responsible for overseeing the organization, security, and performance of our databases, ensuring data integrity, and optimizing database structures for efficiency.

Additionally, the DBA will be tasked with generating reports and writing queries to extract and analyze data as needed by various departments.

This role reports to the VP Finance.

Responsibilities :

  • Design, implement, and maintain database systems to meet the organization's data storage and retrieval needs.
  • Monitor database performance, identify and resolve issues to ensure optimal performance and reliability.
  • Ensure data security and integrity through regular backups, access controls, and data encryption.
  • Develop and implement data management policies and procedures to maintain data accuracy and consistency.
  • Write and optimize SQL queries to extract, manipulate, and analyze data for reporting purposes.
  • Generate and distribute reports to support business operations and decision-making processes.
  • Responsible for developing and operationalizing statistical models, as well as performing model updates to analyses as needed.
  • Provide assistance in the design and delivery of automated, scalable analytical models to stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand data requirements and provide technical support as needed.
  • Participate in projects associated with core operating systems and business processes to identify data and reporting process implications.
  • Stay updated on database technology trends and best practices to recommend improvements and enhancements.

Qualifications :

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Business, Accounting, Finance, Statistics, Mathematics, Economics or a related field.
  • 3 - 6+ years experience as a Database Administrator or in a similar role.
  • Proficiency in database management systems such as MySQL, Oracle, SQL Server, etc.
  • Strong understanding of database design, normalization, and optimization principles.
  • Experience with database performance tuning, monitoring, and troubleshooting.
  • Advanced SQL querying skills with the ability to write complex queries.
  • Familiarity with data visualization and reporting tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI).
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills with attention to detail.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills for collaborating with team members and stakeholders.
  • Certification in database administration (e.g., Oracle Certified Professional) is a plus.
