As a Sports Coordinator, you will work on a team that is focused on supporting Community Partners who steward City lands & facilities to bring sport programming to Calgarians.
This role will also support the implementation of the Sport for Life Policy. This role will support and lead project-based work that will require you to liaise and consult with internal staff, external recreation and sport organizations and community members.
This position reports to the Lead, Recreation and Sport Partnerships. Primary duties include :
- Support a portfolio of Community Partner Sport Organizations to provide service to Calgarians. Liaising with them to connect to City services, and oversee compliance with the Investing in Partnership Policy, Sport for Life Policy & terms of the lease or license.
- Support the implementation of the Sport for Life Policy.
- Support the completion of board orientation and governance support, strategic and business planning facilitation, bylaw consultation and review, operational policies and procedures, and organizational development for recreation and sport partners.
- Develop and maintain project documentation, communication, and reports.
- Act as a liaison and resource for other Business Unit staff.
- Represent Recreation and Sport Partnerships on various committees and projects.
- Develop and maintain healthy relationships with recreation and sport partners and City business units to ensure long term success.
- Develop, interpret, inform, and promote resources to support recreation and sport partners and share information back to City business units.
Connecting resource work is ongoing and interconnected to relationship management.
Qualifications
- A degree in Sport Administration, Sport Science, Recreation Administration, or a related field.
- At least 3 years of experience in recreation, sports or non-profit management, policy implementation, capital development and project management.
- Previous experience consulting with not-for profit groups, as well as an applied knowledge of trends and issues relevant to recreation and sports organizations will be considered an asset.
- Familiarity with City of Calgary, Alberta Government and Federal Government policies related to sport development will be considered assets.
- Proven experience in dynamic environments will be considered assets.
- Demonstrated skills in group leadership, and political and organizational perceptiveness.
- You have the ability to work as part of a team and to collaborate with partners from various levels.
- Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills, with a high level of organization and attention to detail.
