Relevant de la directrice principale, Formation et développement, l’avocat-conseil ou l’avocate-conseil en formation IA dirigera la conception, l’élaboration et la mise en œuvre des programmes de formation et d’adoption de l’intelligence artificielle (IA) destinés aux professionnels du droit et des affaires de Fasken au Canada, à Londres et à Johannesburg. Cette personne fera partie de notre équipe multidisciplinaire d’IA, laquelle conjugue ses efforts avec l’équipe de la gestion du savoir et de l’innovation de la pratique (GSIP) et l’équipe des technologies de l’information (TI). Dans ce contexte, elle travaillera en collaboration avec des collègues pour aligner les programmes de formation et d’adoption de l’IA sur la stratégie de Fasken en matière d’IA et sur les objectifs annuels du cabinet à cet égard.
Permanent Position – Hybrid. Reporting to the Senior Director, Learning & Development, the A.I. Learning Counsel will lead the design, development and implementation of the firm’s artificial intelligence (A.I.) training and adoption programs for legal and business professionals in Fasken’s Canadian Regions and our London and Johannesburg offices. The incumbent will be a part of the firm’s cross-department AI team with Knowledge and Practice Innovation (KMPI) and Information Technology (IT). As a part of this team, they will collaborate to align the AI training and adoption programs with Fasken’s AI strategy and annual business objectives related to A.I.
The primary internal clients for this role, in addition to the KMPI and IT teams, are lawyers, legal students, legal administrative staff, Human Resources, and other business administrative staff.
Primary Responsibilities
Strategy & Program Development
- In collaboration with the Senior Director, Learning and Development, design, develop and implement a multi-year AI learning strategy aligned with the firm’s talent and innovation goals.
- In collaboration with the AI experts in Knowledge and Practice Innovation and Information Technology, identify AI learning needs across practice groups, business services, and leadership; develop and maintain a firm-wide AI curriculum, ranging from foundational literacy to advanced, practice-specific applications.
- Stay current on emerging AI learning trends and assess their impact on the firm.
- Attend KMPI and IT meetings on AI, and update firm documents, procedures and processes to incorporate changes into AI training.
Learning Execution & Delivery
Create and oversee facilitation of the delivery of engaging training programs (live workshops, e-learning, certifications, on-demand modules) on AI concepts, tools, and use cases in legal practice.Partner with Knowledge Management to incorporate AI into Learning & Development materials, including training for lawyers, staff, etc.Create AI skills programs tailored to the needs of Fasken’s legal professionals, including summer articling students, articling students, paralegals, associates, partners and business professional roles.Develop AI learning journeys for various firm members, including legal assistants, marketing, business development, finance, and IT professionals.Collaborate with KMPI and IT on, and contribute to, the Firm’s AI Collective initiatives across practices and business departments to build internal expertise and mentorship capacity.Oversee and contribute to the development and maintenance of relevant AI learning resources and materials.Maintain technical competence in software and AI applications supported by the firm and stay updated on new technologies.Adoption, Risk & Change Management
Promote responsible use of AI in alignment with firm policies, client expectations, and professional obligations.Support change management by equipping lawyers and staff with the skills, tools, and confidence to adopt AI in daily work.In collaboration with KMPI and IT, monitor adoption metrics, learning outcomes, and feedback to refine programming and measure ROI.Maintain learning records, reports, evaluations, and effectiveness of the firm’s AI Learning and continuously work towards AI learning maturity.Collaboration & Thought Leadership
In coordination with KMPI, contribute to thought leadership content (articles, presentations, webinars) to showcase the firm’s AI expertise internally and externally.Collaborate with lawyers and legal teams, as well as KMPI, to identify opportunities for implementing learning technology solutions to enhance learning efficiency and effectiveness.Work with KMPI and key stakeholders on all aspects of AI skills training.Work on projects and other duties as assigned.Required Knowledge And Experience
J.D. / LL.B. and member in good standing with a Canadian law society.Minimum five (5) years of experience practicing law, with exposure to legal technology, knowledge management, or innovation initiatives.Proven experience designing and delivering legal training or professional development programs.Strong understanding of emerging AI technologies in legal practice (e.g., generative AI, contract review, legal research, analytics).French / Bilingual language skills is an asset.Strong foundation in instructional and learning design, with experience developing effective training solutionsExperience with learning technologies, including Learning Management Systems (LMS) and digital learning tools, as well as familiarity with Microsoft CopilotExperience delivering training both in-person and virtually, adapting content to diverse learning stylesExcellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively across regions and functionsUnderstanding of change management principles and the ability to support stakeholders through changeStrong organizational, problem-solving, and multitasking skills in a dynamic environmentBusiness-minded, results-oriented, and customer-focused approachAdaptable, resilient, and committed to continuous learning and professional growthPay Range
