Job Description

Manulife is looking for a Vendor and Contracts Management Director to join the Global Data Technology (GDT) team. The incumbent brings critical thinking and a desire to optimize our contract management process, drive cost efficiency and enable delivery and transformation at GDT.

The position is well-suited for someone who enjoys change, adapts quickly and able to navigate independently through complex processes.

The position will be hybrid.

Reporting to the AVP, Strategy and functionally reporting to the Director of Vendors, Contracts, and Workforce Management at GDT, you'll join an innovative and committed team of hardworking and, and successful professionals passionate about working together, challenging the existing state, and owning our future.

This role will support the delivery of Global Data's strategy objectives and will be a key member Global Data Vendor Management Office.

Key Accountabilities :

  • Operationalize plans and lead the development of Global Data portfolio of contracts (professional services, software, and others), including defining and operating a sustainable contracts renewal process
  • Persuade and influence internal and external team members broadly at all levels to take action, adopt a different point of view on vendor- and contracts-related decisions
  • Perform contracting tasks such as Non-Disclosure Agreements (NDA) and Proof of Concept (PoC) agreements
  • Lead the creation of Statements of Work (SOW), Renewals, Addendum and Amendments with support from Procurement and Paralegal as needed
  • Process annual software maintenances, SaaS renewals, invoicing, and purchase orders.
  • Initiate the appropriate procurement activity to submit intake request post triage
  • Lead active contracts and mitigate any disputes or audits that take place
  • Define and operate an invoice approval process for GD using existing tools and shared services at Manulife
  • Partner with Finance to understand impacts of negotiated amounts on the budget by portfolio
  • Handle the governance model with relation to vendor engagement and staff augmentation
  • Coordinate and lead a variety of vendor meetings and events
  • Conduct data analytics on vendor spend and identify optimization opportunities
  • Prepare related POV presentations, reporting and analysis as needed, including active software contracts, licensing reviews and spend analysis

Individual Accountabilities :

  • Expected to be knowledgeable about the work performed by immediate teams and partners
  • Capable of integrating market insights and internal knowledge (processes, relationships, politics) with business understanding to guide tactical operational plans
  • Adapts to changing scope and priorities across segment data office teams, internal IT business units, and vendors as needed
  • Identifies and solves complex, operational and organizational problems within vendors and contracts domain with minimal critical issue
  • Provides leadership support for small groups and teams
  • Complete strategic resource planning, leads management activities
  • Actively removes barriers for immediate and business partners and teams to deliver vendor-resourcing and contracting needs

Job Requirements :

  • 7+ years of experience in global supply chain management and / or vendor management and / or contract management
  • Experience and knowledge of sourcing and procurement principles, best practices, and tools
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office suite; Excel, Powerpoint and PowerBI are a must
  • Demonstrates understanding of how technology supports Manulife's strategy
  • Strong detail orientation; able to refine deliverables and advise on contractual documentation with minimal intervention
  • Experience working with Asia teams is strongly preferred
  • Awareness of Microsoft data and cloud technology stack
  • Understands cross team structures, team cultures, partnership & information sharing within the company
  • Strong understanding of internal processes and how to lead to expedite outcomes
  • Strong emotional intelligence, social skills, awareness and management of relationships and politics in a corporate environment
  • Consistent record preparing high-quality audience-based communications and presentations, up to SVP-level
  • Consistent track record creating and rollout streamlined processes
  • Experience in intake and demand planning
  • Fit for purpose and usually refined quality
  • Constantly learns from both success and failure
  • Good organizational and problem-solving abilities that enable you to handle through creative abrasion

Salary & Benefits

The annual base salary for this role is listed below.

Primary Location

Salary range is expected to be between

$103,050.00 CAD - $185,490.00 CAD
