Academic Psychiatrist Eating Disorders

We invite applications for an excellent opportunity available for the full-time position of Academic Psychiatrist- Eating Disorders to work in the Department of Psychiatry & Behavioural Neurosciences (DPBN), McMaster University.

This full- time faculty appointment is on the Clinician Educator track in the Faculty of Health Sciences at McMaster, with financial compensation coming from other salaried employment within the Eating Disorders Program Outpatient Clinic at our partner hospital, St.

Joseph’s Healthcare Hamilton.

The appointee of this position will hold a full-time academic appointment in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioural Neurosciences at an academic rank appropriate to their credentials and experience.

We are particularly interested in candidates who have demonstrated interest and expertise in transdiagnostic CBT group treatment for individuals with anorexia, bulimia and other specified feeding and eating disorders.

The successful candidate will have a background in psychotherapy and experience in specialized CBT group treatment for individuals with binge eating disorder, and experience in providing individualized cognitive behavioural therapy enhanced (CBT-E).

The appointee to this position will participate fully in all appropriate departmental and divisional administrative, educational and research committees and meetings, and will contribute, collaborate, and consult to other programs departmentally.

Qualifications :

  • The successful candidate must be licensed or eligible for licensure in the Province of Ontario and hold Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons specialty certification in psychiatry or an equivalent designation.
  • The candidate will have training and experience in anorexia, bulimia, binge eating and other specific feeding and eating disorders, as well as training in specialized CBT group treatment and a background in psychotherapy, with preference given to applicants with 2-5 years practice experience.
  • The candidate will have demonstrated commitment and skills in clinical education with all levels of learners and will provide leadership and training to future Psychiatrists.
  • The candidate will provide evidence of excellent research productivity that aligns with the departmental academic mission and vision demonstrated through a record of high-quality publications in top-ranked and field relevant journals or forthcoming publications meeting high international standards, presentations at significant conferences, and awards.
