Senior Accountant

About the Company :

An Edmonton client is searching for a Senior Accountant to join their team.

Senior Accountant Highlights :

• Full-Cycle Accounting :
• Manage full-cycle accounting for three companies, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
• Process accounts payable (AP) for 32 invoices per week, with an average of $42K per invoice per month.
• Process accounts receivable (AR) for 18 invoices per week, with an average of $231K per invoice per month.
• Account Reconciliation :
• Reconcile 12 to 15 accounts per month, including 7 bank accounts, 2 credit cards, and 7 bank statements.
• Perform intercompany reconciliation weekly to verify transactions are posted correctly in each company.
• Reconcile intercompany AR / AP entries weekly to ensure accuracy.
• Month-End and General Ledger :
• Code and load into AP entry, typically taking 30-60 minutes at the end of the month.
• Perform auto reclass entry from payroll clearing, taking a maximum of 10 minutes.
• Set up assets throughout the month, requiring a total of 1 hour.
• Run depreciation and update working papers (WP) after asset setup, requiring 1 hour.
• Verify debt schedules and create the current portion, taking 1 hour.
• Create working papers for taxes (GST / PST), requiring 1 hour.
• Reconcile Amex & Cat statements, taking 1 hour.
• Handle rebate accruals, taking 10 minutes.
• Asset Management :
• Track capital assets schedule in MS Excel.
• Set up assets and run depreciation updates.
• Ensure access to DocLink for grabbing invoices and managing asset documentation.

Qualifications :

• Minimum of 3 years of full-cycle accounting experience.
• Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Accounting.
• Strong proficiency in managing accounts payable and receivable.
• Excellent reconciliation skills for various accounts.
• Proficiency in using accounting software and MS Excel.
• Ability to manage multiple companies' accounting processes.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Effective time management and organizational skills.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.
