Telecon is looking for an energetic, career-oriented individual to join our team as Labour Relations Advisor.

The Labour Relations Advisor works closely with members of the organization and Talent and Culture team on all matters related to labour relations.

You are called upon to play a strategic role and lead complex mandates in your field. You act as an expert in labour relations management and are responsible for the application, interpretation and negotiation of collective agreements.

You play an influential advisory role with managers and human resources stakeholders in addition to supporting the organization in strategic decisions related to labour relations.

This position may be based from our offices in Ottawa, Montreal (Anjou) or Toronto (Vaughan). THe successful candidate will report to the Sr.

Manager, Talent and Culture. Occasional travel to our various sites in Quebec and Ontario will be required and bilingual in French / English is an asset.

RESPONSIBILITIES :

  • Act as lead and spokesperson for the renewal of collective agreements. Recommend a negotiation mandate based on the needs of the business and participate in the development of negotiation strategies.
  • Act as counsel support to Talent and Culture Business Partners and Managers on interpretation of labour laws and collective agreements and prepare written submissions and responses on behalf of Telecon.
  • Provide advisory support to Talent and Culture Business Partners and Managers on complex cases requiring labour relations and / or employee relations expertise.
  • Participate and lead confidential employee investigations.
  • Compile and analyze data related to labour relations issues and advise on trends across the organization.
  • Act as negotiator and official representative of Telecon during grievance committees, specialized tribunals (in collaboration with the legal department and HR business partners) or any other body in the presence of union representatives.
  • Liaise with Legal Services and other stakeholders.

REQUIRED PROFILE

  • University degree in industrial relations, law (labour and employment law profile), human resources management or any other field deemed relevant .
  • 3 to 5 years of experience as an expert labour relations advisor as well as experience as a spokesperson in the context of the renewal of collective agreements.
  • Good knowledge of the laws and different jurisprudential trends that govern labour relations in Quebec and Ontario.
  • Have represented the interests of the employer before administrative tribunals and within the framework of working committees (joint committees, grievance committees,) etc.
  • Have a track record of successful relationship building and ability to address issues in a win-win approach.
  • Have a demonstrated problem solving and solution oriented approach.
  • Experience in construction or telecommunications industry is an asset.
