Assistant Project Manager

  • Manage residential construction projects, ensuring adherence to schedules, budgets, and quality standards.
  • Handle project administration, including cost control, scheduling, and change order management.
  • Prepare and maintain project budgets, and track financial performance.
  • Develop and update construction schedules, ensuring milestones are met.
  • Negotiate and manage contracts with clients, suppliers, and subcontractors.
  • Enforce quality control standards and ensure superior craftsmanship.
  • Prepare and submit regular progress reports to clients.
  • Hire, manage, and coordinate subcontractors and on-site personnel.
  • Prequalify trade contractors and vendors for projects across the GTA.
  • Coordinate labor schedules to optimize site efficiency.
  • Communicate regularly with project teams and resolve any issues.
  • Oversee project close-out, including documentation and client handover.
  • Address post-construction warranty and deficiency issues.
  • Conduct site inspections to ensure quality, safety, and progress.
  • Assist with material take-offs, orders, and subcontractor management.
  • Meet with clients for project updates and maintain strong relationships.
  • Review and process change orders in collaboration with the project manager.

The ideal candidate for the Residential Construction Project Coordinator position is a highly organized and detail-oriented individual with a minimum of 4 years' experience in the residential construction industry .

They have a strong background in managing luxury home renovations or custom builds and are skilled at overseeing all phases of the construction process-from planning through to completion.

Key qualities include :

  • Experience : At least 4 years of proven experience within the residential construction industry, with a deep understanding of timelines, budgets, and the construction process.
  • Project Management Skills : Strong ability to plan, organize, and execute projects from start to finish, ensuring all aspects of the project are completed to specification, on time, and within budget.
  • Communication : Excellent communication skills, with the ability to liaise effectively with clients, subcontractors, suppliers, and internal teams.
  • Problem-Solving : Ability to anticipate and resolve issues proactively, ensuring projects continue smoothly despite challenges.
  • Detail-Oriented : Meticulous attention to detail, especially when it comes to quality control, cost tracking, and documentation.
  • Team Player : Collaborative mindset with the ability to work closely with other project managers, site superintendents, and contractors.
  • Tech-Savvy : Comfortable with construction management software, scheduling tools, and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Adaptable : Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment, managing shifting priorities and multiple projects across varying timelines.
  • Driver's License & Vehicle : Must have a valid driver's license and access to a reliable vehicle, as regular site visits and travel across the GTA will be required.
