General Superintendent (Civil)
Job Description
What you will undertake :
- Reporting to the Station Manager.
- Managing and assisting the field site leaders such as the Site Superintendents and Discipline Project Managers.
- Ensure that HSE is always guaranteed by enforcing a safe work environment, implementing and monitoring safety protocols, and conducting regular safety inspections to prevent accidents and mitigate risks.
- Supervise the construction activities on the station project, ensuring compliance with project plans, specifications, and applicable regulations.
- Overseeing & implementing project quality standards for the project and ensuring installation, industry standards, project requirements and Best Practice Systems are being upheld
- Collaborate with Superintendents, Project Managers, Engineers, and stakeholders to develop and implement construction schedules, work plans, and resource allocation to meet project milestones and objectives.
- Identify and address any issues or obstacles that may arise during the construction process, employing effective problem-solving skills to maintain project progress and minimize delays.
- Maintain accurate records of construction activities, including daily reports, progress updates, and any changes or deviations from the original plans.
Provide regular reports to project management and stakeholders.
- Monitor project costs, including labor, materials, and equipment, and assist in managing the project budget, seeking cost-effective solutions without compromising quality and safety standards.
- Implement, monitor, benchmark and enforce standards of production for self-performed work to ensure field personal are operating efficiently & effectively via the Site Superintendents and Project Managers.
- Oversee & manage company and subcontractor shop area, company tools, and company equipment
- Assist with coordinating over or under burdened manpower commitments via networks and alliances in the local area through HR Department
- Promote the company image through exercising sound and ethical business practices as they relate to customers, suppliers, employees and the public
- Follow & promote all guidelines, policies and procedures established by the company
Qualifications
What do we ask for?
- A degree or diploma in civil engineering, construction management, or a related field is preferred.
- A proven track record of at least 10-15 years in a civil construction supervisory role, preferably on large-scale infrastructure projects.
- Strong knowledge of civil construction methods, codes, and regulations.
- Familiarity with site preparation and establishment, tunneling, trackwork, earthworks, concrete in situ and precast works, and utility relocation is advantageous.
- Excellent leadership and team management abilities, with the capacity to motivate and guide a diverse workforce.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills to liaise with team members, stakeholders, and subcontractors.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to address construction challenges and provide practical solutions.
- In-depth knowledge of construction safety practices and regulations, with a commitment to maintaining a safe work environment.
- Ability to multitask, prioritize responsibilities, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced construction environment.
- Proficient in using construction management software, scheduling tools, and Microsoft Office applications.
- Experience working in urban projects and union labor force.
- Possession of relevant certifications, such as First Aid / CPR, Construction Safety Training Systems (CSTS), and other industry-specific certifications.
