We're looking for a mission-driven Program Coordinator, Come to Work who is passionate about creating more accessible, inclusive, and equitable communities across Canada where people with low vision have unlimited opportunities and can experience life free from barriers and discrimination.

Your Impact at CNIB

  • Assisting in delivering and monitoring best-in-class programs :
  • Working with Program Lead and wider Come to Work team, you will assist in developing and delivering program activities and workshops.
  • You will constantly seek opportunities to improve service delivery metrics and participant outcomes, leveraging available evaluation data.
  • You will assist in recruiting and engaging volunteers and delivering Come to Work Program while providing support to other CNIB Programs as required
  • You will assist with implementing plans to maximize the success of CNIB programs in your local market including the growth of existing programs working within national and provincial service delivery standards and program curricula.
  • You will help measure the outcomes of the engagement of our volunteers and participants, and the impact our programs.
  • Engaging and empowering participants :
  • You will engage participants through intake process and set them up for successful participation in Come to Work program by connecting them with appropriate community resources including vocational partners.
  • You will provide ongoing support and coaching to Come to Work program participants who are new to vision loss and / or in school.
  • You will champion CNIB's high standards of client and customer service, ensuring they are universally understood by staff and volunteers, and continuously upheld across all aspects of local operations.
  • You will build strong, positive relationships with program participants, and seek insight into their unique needs, goals and lived experiences.
  • You will proactively encourage program participants to take advantage of other CNIB programs and services that may benefit them, offering them opportunities to gain confidence and independence, and expand their support network and deepen their community engagement.
  • Performs administrative duties including but not limited to service tracking, benchmarking, and report writing.
  • Assisting in creating and leading an amazing team :
  • You will actively work with the team to create and maintain volunteer positions in order to promote skill-building volunteer experiences to program participants
  • You will lead by example in bringing our values to life pushing your team to work with passion, determination, ambition and a positive spirit to change people’s lives, and society itself.
  • You will help make CNIB the organization of choice for volunteers promoting our commitment to volunteer engagement at every opportunity and developing the active volunteer base needed to support local operations.
  • You’ll also ensure understanding of, and compliance with, all CNIB's policies and procedures.
  • Assist in building strong community relationships :
  • You will assist with outreach efforts by identifying, developing and stewarding strong and effective relationships and partnerships with community organizations, employers, local government, social agencies, as well as funders that are aligned to and / or can help further our mission,
  • You will be a key local ambassador for CNIB, representing and promoting the organization at all relevant external events.
  • You will help advocate for and promote an understanding and awareness of vision loss through public education and in-house training.

Requirements

Who you are :

Education and Certifications

University degree in relevant field.

Experience and Qualifications

  • Minimum 1 year of work experience in employment and vocational field with a focus on employment preparation, skills training and employment coaching.
  • Experience working with people with disabilities is preferred.
  • Knowledge and experience working and / or volunteering at a not-for-profit organization considered an asset.
  • A track record of successful people skills encompassing establishing, developing and maintaining positive relationships with individuals seeking services, partnerships with organizations, and team of volunteers.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint.
  • Knowledge of online platforms CRM software such as Zoom, Skype, Microsoft Teams, and Salesforce considered an asset.
  • Knowledge of job accommodation practice and assistive technology.
  • Excellent interpersonal, influencing and communication skills, with the ability to plan and deliver clear communications to a dispersed audience.
  • Proven strong time management, planning, coordinating and organization skills.
  • Effectively demonstrates understanding and championing of diversity, inclusion and accessibility issues.
  • Professional attitude, results oriented, and flexible.
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
  • Personal or professional experience relating to blindness and sight loss is considered an asset.
  • Personal or professional experience working with assistive technology and / or accessible environments is considered an asset.
