AltaGas - Senior Internal Auditor
Join AltaGas as a Senior Internal Auditor and play a pivotal role in ensuring our operations are efficient, compliant, and risk-aware.
This hybrid role allows you to work both from home and the office, providing flexibility while you lead and perform complex internal audits across operational, compliance, financial, and technology domains.
You will drive continuous improvement in audit processes, contribute to the annual audit plan, and provide training to audit staff and consultants.
Reporting to the Manager, Internal Audit, you will uphold the highest organizational and professional ethical standards.
You Will :
Audit Execution : Lead and perform audit procedures, including issue identification, risk-based criteria development, evidence review, and client process documentation.
Documentation & Analysis : Conduct interviews, review documents, administer surveys, compose summary memos, and prepare working papers.
Issue Identification : Develop and document audit issues and recommendations using critical thinking and independent judgment.
Communication : Present audit and consulting project results through written reports and oral presentations to management
Relationship Management : Build and maintain productive relationships with clients and staff through individual contacts and group meetings
Professional Development : Pursue opportunities for professional growth, including training and professional association memberships, and share knowledge with colleagues
Representation : Represent internal audit on project teams, at management meetings, and with external organizations
Collaboration : Work collaboratively with management to identify necessary actions and improvements
Risk Assessment : Identify and evaluate organizational risk areas and contribute to the development of the annual audit plan
You Have :
Experience : 4+ years of assurance experience, with a proven track record in leading a team and conducting audits
Analytical Skills : Ability to analyze complex data, identify trends, and draw logical conclusions
Attention to Detail : Precision in reviewing documents and identifying discrepancies
Critical Thinking : Ability to think independently and challenge assumptions
Adaptability : Flexibility to adjust to new challenges and changing environments
Communication Skills : Clear and effective communication, both written and verbal
Industry Knowledge : Understanding of Midstream and / or Utilities industry policies, procedures, regulations, and laws, with familiarity in commodity marketing considered an asset
Auditing Expertise : Strong knowledge of internal auditing and accounting principles, management principles, and preferred business practices
Ethical Standards : Working knowledge of the Standards for the Professional Practice of Internal Auditing and the Code of Ethics by The Institute of Internal Auditors
Quality Control : Skill in conducting quality control reviews of audit work products
Technical Knowledge : Understanding of management information systems terminology, concepts, and practices
Project Management : Strong planning and project management skills, with the ability to maintain composure under pressure and meet multiple deadlines
Certifications : Currently holding or actively pursuing a CPA, CIA, CISA, or an equivalent certification
Mobility : Class 5 Driver’s License with the ability to travel up to 15% (domestic and international)
