Job Purpose :
Reporting to the Senior Director of Application Services, the Director of Enterprise Architecture is responsible for defining a technology roadmap aligned with business strategy.
This role establishes an architectural framework for application development and integration, providing leadership and guidance to Technology and Information teams in implementing established standards and guidelines.
What you will be doing :
Strategic Leadership & Architecture
- Develop and maintain an enterprise architecture roadmap that aligns with business strategy and anticipates current and future needs.
- Define and document architectural principles, standards, and guidelines for applications, data, and technology usage.
- Create architectural diagrams and support the Technology team with design patterns and best practices.
- Advise on cross-enterprise integration to enhance business processes, technology, and customer experience.
- Collaborate with stakeholders and technology leadership to recommend system enhancements and shape the company’s architecture roadmap.
- Represent architectural interests within the company and provide technical insights through presentations.
- Establish governance mechanisms to operationalize enterprise architecture in decision-making processes.
Application Management
- Maintain the application inventory, roadmaps, and operational guides.
- Oversee the lifecycle of business solutions, including development, integration, and timely retirement of applications.
- Manage annual budgets for application maintenance services.
- Act as an escalation point for high-level support issues.
- Assign application leads, establish accountability, and mentor team members to foster growth and knowledge transfer.
- Implement continuous improvement processes across internal and external teams.
- Ensure adherence to IT Service Management (ITSM) processes and review change requests as a Change Advisory Board (CAB) member.
- Evaluate critical production issues, advise on recovery solutions, and ensure timely resolution.
AI Focus
- Create and maintain an enterprise architecture framework that aligns AI initiatives with business objectives.
- Establish architectural standards and governance processes for effective AI solution deployment.
- Lead the incorporation of AI technologies into existing systems to enhance efficiency and enable data-driven decisions.
- Stay updated on emerging AI trends, assessing their impact and identifying innovation opportunities.
- Work with data scientists, IT, and business leaders to align AI strategy and architecture.
- Oversee data management strategies to ensure quality and accessibility for successful AI implementation.
- Identify and address risks related to AI deployment, including ethics, privacy, and compliance.
- Develop KPIs to evaluate the effectiveness and ROI of AI initiatives and adjust as needed.
- Promote a culture of learning by providing AI best practices training and resources.
- Manage relationships with AI technology vendors to leverage optimal solutions.
Procurement & Vendor Management
- Evaluate proposals during the pre-testing phase to identify and mitigate potential issues.
- Negotiate contracts with software and service providers.
- Coordinate with global and regional IT leadership to deliver projects at strategic, tactical, and operational levels.
How you will succeed :
- Degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Business, or related disciplines, or equivalent work experience and technical training.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in business system application design, development, or enterprise architecture.
- At least 10 years of experience in direct line resource management, with 5 years in an IT leadership role.
- 5 years of experience in defining and implementing application architectures in multi-user, multi-platform environments.
- Proven experience in planning and deploying both business and IT initiatives, including transformation strategies.
- Strong knowledge of information technologies and methodologies, particularly in cloud environments.
- Familiarity with business architecture concepts, such as business capability mapping and value stream analysis.
- Experience with industry-leading frameworks like TOGAF, Zachman, and Lean EA.
- Ability to analyze, learn, and apply evolving technologies to meet business requirements.
- Proven ability to communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
- Strong business planning, analytical, and conceptual skills.
- Excellent problem-solving, planning, and organizational capabilities.
- Experience working in a collaborative, team-oriented environment that adapts to change.
- Continuous knowledge of current business and technological trends, with the ability to integrate approaches into a unified architectural blueprint.
- Ability to lead migrations to new technological environments and develop integrated solutions.
