Position purpose :
Reporting to the Senior Advisor, Program Management – Practicum, the incumbent assists the Practicum Office in planning and managing practicums for Faculty programs, enhancing the student experience while establishing and strengthening relationships and collaboration with the teaching community

In this role, your responsibilities will include :
Working with the practicum coordinator, participates in all stages and areas of the practicum process, including process and document preparation, matching, communication with partners, police record checks, practicum evaluation reports, final grades, protocols for student teachers in difficulty, compensation of associate teachers, requests for deferred practicums, practicum absences and workplace insurance, in accordance with Faculty practices and program, school board and Ontario College of Teachers requirements.
Solves matching problems before or during practicums. Promptly informs all affected persons (students, associate teachers, practicum coordinator, administrators) of changes to practicums.
Working with the practicum coordinator, helps form, promote and maintain partnerships with school boards and schools, to facilitate recruitment of associate teachers.
Serves as a resource person and advises clients on the practicum process and matters relating to own area of expertise.
Prepares documents and reports that outline practicum details with regard to participants’ program requirements and meet Ontario College of Teachers requirements. Produces reports on practicum data based on stakeholders’ needs, to update them on practicum status.
What you will bring :
Postsecondary education in administration and office technology, or an equivalent combination of education and work experience
Two years’ demonstrated experience in a similar role
Knowledge of postsecondary education programs and academic regulations
Knowledge of the Ontario school system and the teaching milieu
Experience in interpreting, explaining and applying regulations and procedures
Experience in providing customer service as a resource person
Experience in maintaining successful partnerships
Experience in using computer systems and software, such as Windows, Microsoft 365 applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook), Acrobat, Talisma, the internet and databases
Experience in entering and verifying data
Tact, diplomacy, outstanding interpersonal skills and effective communication skills
Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills
Bilingualism – French and English (spoken and written).
