Services.

Position Status : Temporary 12 month contract

Available : Immediately

Description of the Position :

The Senior Specialist, Research Services provides responsive, accurate, precise donor intelligence and information that informs the decision-making of fundraisers so that a desired plan of action is confirmed;

and identifies prospects whose connections, interest, capacity or philanthropic inclination predispose them to support hospital fundraising priorities.

The position reports directly to the Associate Director, Prospect Research and Market Intelligence.

Required Skills

You will :

• Provide timely, responsive research service to Foundation staff in accordance with the Research Service Level Agreement;
• Collect information, interpret, analyze, assess, evaluate and synthesize data into a coherent and accurate report to support planning and decision-making by fundraisers;
• Consult with fundraisers to establish timeframes and clarify research requirements;
• Collaborate with the Research Services Team to build / create prospect identification strategies to meet overall departmental goals;
• Conduct strategic prospecting using proprietary information, demographic data, business intelligence, analytics, and / or electronic / print resources to identify major gift prospects;
• Ensure that relevant information regarding donors and prospects is up-to-date and accurate on the donor database and track strategic research data on the database to facilitate ongoing and future prospect identification;
• Share relevant information with the Foundation’s fundraisers to facilitate the development of prospect management strategies to better cultivate and solicit major gift prospects;
• Collaborate with fundraisers and the Research Services team to maintain prospect management procedures and initiatives, and to support prospect portfolio management goals;
• Monitor major news publications and digital media for announcements and news items concerning major gift donors, prospects, and the Foundation.

Qualifications :

While we know that for any job posting no one candidate will possess the qualifications being sought in equal measure, below is an outline of the qualifications we believe are important for a candidate to bring to the position or for the successful candidate to develop while in the role :

• Minimum 5+ years of work experience related to prospect research and / or prospect management;
• Master of Information & Library Science preferred;
• Proven record of accomplishment in the fundraising research environment;
• Experience working with the Microsoft Office suite, database management and spreadsheet software, online subscription services / databases;
• Exceptional technical skills, including data analysis, segmentation and screening;
• Familiarity with database querying and visualisation tools to identify prospects and evaluate pools and portfolios;
• Experience, coursework, or other training in fundraising principles and practices, including the participation in the Association of Professional Researchers for Advancement and other professional development activities;
• Excellent analytical, verbal and written skills. Ability to synthesize information from multiple sources into a coherent and accurate profile report presentation format that is used to support planning and decision-making;
• Strong sense of initiative, client-service orientation and attention to detail;
• Organizational skills, are detail oriented, with strong follow through;
• Proven ability to work collaboratively in a team environment;
• The ability and adaptability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously while working in a changing and fast paced environment with tight deadlines.

Total Compensation Package :

Hiring Salary Range : $80,051.00 $100,065.00; with the ability to progress to a maximum of $115,076.00. To ensure fair and equitable pay at SickKids Foundation, placement on the salary range will be based on your years of experience, skills, and qualifications relevant to the Senior Specialist, Research Services.
