Job Summary Oversee and review designs and technical aspects of utility distribution projects.
Ensure the constructability of designs beforehand. Manage design technicians, contractors, and suppliers. Ensure proper interpretation of design by field staff and proper construction in the field. Key Responsibilities
- Manage internal and external resources such as engineers, contractors, and suppliers.
- Maintain relationships with customers, utilities, suppliers, and external stakeholders.
- Create and review Utility electrical distribution design (Both Overhead and Underground)
- Ensure constructability of designs
- Review construction in the field to ensure compliance with designs.
- Create and review Labor and Material takeoff for design projects
- Identify labor, material, and time requirements by studying drawings and related documents.
- Manage projects to maximize company revenue and minimize cost on all construction, operations, and maintenance activities.
- Co-ordinate work with stakeholders (customers, utilities, property managers, and internal groups)
- Build job aids to train new hires and Co-op students.
- Perform all job functions safely and healthily, abiding by all applicable Health, Safety, and Environmental company policies and government legislation / regulations.
- Adhere to the Company’s Quality System operating procedures.
Education and Experience
- At least 5 years of experience in the electrical distribution design
- Professional Engineer designation in Ontario (Preferred)
- Degree in Electrical Engineering, with a focus on Power Systems
- Extensive knowledge of electrical distribution systems and pole-loading analysis
- Experience with construction management and project management
- Experience determining equipment, tools, and personnel required for a project.
- Understanding of cost allocations and margin expectations
- Knowledge of OESC, OHSA, Reg 22.04, and safe work practices for High Voltage projects
- Ability to manage staff and contractors.
- Ability to communicate with customers, field staff, reporting staff, co-workers, and managers
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Proficient in MS Office
