Role description :
We are currently seeking an Intermediate Transportation Engineer with great technical and communication skills and preliminary and detailed design experience in projects related to Municipal and Provincial Infrastructure projects to join the Toronto West office.
This team is a part of our Mobility Global Business Area. We partner with our clients across the globe to design thriving and connected cities and communities that enable opportunity for all and keep the world moving. Climate change, urbanization and digitization trends are requiring today’s mobility projects and systems to address an evolving set of demands from the world’s growing population. We design connected, sustainable solutions that integrate existing infrastructure with new technologies, and optimize the mobility of people and goods.
Role accountabilities :
In this role you will lead and / or assist with analysis and design efforts in road safety, 2D layout and 3D modeling for provincial and municipal highways, freeways, and interchanges. You will prepare design sketches, detailed design drawings, detailed 3D Models, calculation reports, technical reports, and tender documents associated with infrastructure projects, prepare presentations and prepare client communications and lead small projects / tasks independently. You will review project documents prior to submittal, including checking for technical accuracy, assist with transportation group project management and business development and make a positive contribution to the overall team culture and environment. You will work with other engineering groups / disciplines and technical specialists to develop full design packages and prepare and maintain client communications and prepare presentations.
This candidate will have effective organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage concurrent priorities, strong analytical, problem solving, and decision-making skills and be task oriented with excellent interpersonal skills that focus on meeting customer requirements. You will have excellent oral and written communication skills, a commitment to excellence and high-quality work with a strong attention to detail and accuracy, and the ability to work independently as well as in diverse groups of project team members and clients.
Qualifications & Experience :
- Bachelor's University Degree in Civil or Transportation Engineering, Professional Engineer with PEO
- 4-6 years of related experience including road safety, traffic operations, municipal infrastructure, and roadway design experience at increasing levels of responsibility, preferably with Ontario Municipal Road authorities
- Proficiency with OpenRoads, MicroStation is an asset. AutoCAD, and Civil 3D as a second option.
- Exposure to the application as AutoTurn
- Experience includes applying and interpreting related legislation and technical documentation including the TAC Geometric Design Guide, MTO Design Supplement, Roadside Design Manual, the Ontario Traffic Manuals, OPSD / OPSS, Municipal standards, and the Ontario Highway Traffic Act

The salary range for this position is $78,000 - $117,000. The base salary represents Arcadis’ hiring range for this position. Actual salaries will vary and will be based on various factors, such as location, skills, experience, and qualification for the role.
