Job Description
- Perform and check piping stress analysis calculations, conduct studies and prepare reports;
- Preparing critical line list, piping stress analysis specification, technical specification for Spring Hangers / Supports datasheets;
- Selecting types of supports, restraints and special support at feasible structural location;
- Assist piping designers to develop appropriate pipe support solutions;
- Providing piping design loads on process structures, pipe rack etc., to civil / structure department;
- Coordination with other engineering disciplines like Mechanical, Process, Instrumentation, Civil & Structural, Vendors & Customer;
- Review of piping layouts to ensure compatibly with specific design;
- Review piping support designs and provide design support to piping designers;
- General verification of piping designs and their compliance against specific regulatory codes;
- Conduct pipe wall thickness calculations;
- Creates, reviews, modifies (if necessary) and approves piping specifications;
- Reviews specifications, drawings, and vendor equipment documentation;
- Conduct document checking and design verification tasks in accordance with company and project procedures;
- Contribute to discipline Design Criteria for engineering or design activities;
- Ensure design meets company and industry standards, as well as regulatory codes;
- Remain up to date with knowledge and skills in engineering’s best practices;
- Possibility of occasional travelling (to project sites and / or client’s meeting).
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s in mechanical Engineering;
- Registered member and in good standing with Professional Engineers Ontario (PEO) (member of the Ordre des Ingénieurs du Quebec (OIQ) is an asset);
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience performing stress analysis;
- Experience using CAESAR II stress outputs software;
- Strong knowledge of applicable codes and standards such as ASME / and related API 610, 661, 617, 650, 560;
- Knowledge of pipe support design in using Autodesk AutoCAD / Inventor and / or AVEVA E3D / PDMS design software is an asset;
- Experience with greenfield and brownfield interfaces, including constructability experience;
- Strong experience with Autocad & Navisworks;
- Knowledge of AVEVA E3D / PDMS design software (an asset);
- Construction Site experience (an asset);
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Details oriented.
- English (speaking and writing).
- French (speaking and writing) an asset.
