Estimator

DRA covers all major mining centers with offices across Africa and the Middle East, North and South America, and the Asia-Pacific.
We are seeking an Estimator for our North Americas Region, based in our Toronto office. The Estimator would be responsible for building up cost estimates from conceptual to feasibility stage, from first principles based on the scope of works, drawing, specifications and program.
Co-ordination of the estimate input for an estimate from all relevant disciplines / individuals, to suit the required level of accuracy and the proposal time schedule.
Responsibilities
- Prepares an estimate document based on the scope of work and class of estimate required.
- Prepare estimates based on MTO, information obtained from the market and historical / database costing information
- Knowledge of bottom up, first principals EPCM, EPC and conceptual types of estimating.
- Prepares estimating plan as the 1st step in the estimating process
- Consolidate and input bid information from tenders into the estimate.
- Production of accurate cost-estimate as per schedule requirements.
- Ensuring estimates are benchmarked against similar historical projects (i.e. rates and quantities).
- Ensuring that estimates are arithmetically correct.
- Calculates and analyses appropriate contingencies for all direct and indirect costs
- Prepare basis of estimates.
- Participation in the following meetings convened by the Proposal / Study Manager :
- Estimate / Study kick off meetings.
- Progress and coordination meetings.
- Estimate internal / peer / client review meetings.
- Soliciting and maintaining communication with contractors and suppliers.
- Liaising with the Project Manager and all discipline Engineers.
Qualifications
- CAPEX estimating for Mining & Minerals projects in North America
- InEight Estimating Package experience advantageous
- Good understanding and knowledge of applicable North American estimating standards and specifications.
- High level of competence in the use of spreadsheets and / or database applications.
- North American Mining & Minerals and EPCM industry CAPEX estimating experience
