Shared Health leads the planning and coordinates the integration of patient-centered clinical and preventive health services across Manitoba.
The organization also delivers some province-wide health services and supports centralized administrative and business functions for Manitoba health organizations.
Position Overview
As a member of the inter-disciplinary team, the incumbent provides quality services to persons experiencing mental illness and / or acquired brain injury following the Centre’s principles of psychosocial rehabilitation.
Under the clinical direction of the Professional Therapist (OT / PT / SLP) and the administrative direction of the Coordinator of Patient Services, following the Centre’s "LEAST RESTRAINT" philosophy, the incumbent carries out specific therapeutic and rehabilitative interventions for patients based on treatment goals and plans developed by the patient and the treatment team.
Demonstrates a commitment to the vision, values, goals, and objectives of SMHC including a strong commitment to patient safety.
This position is critical to the patient’s recovery, in that the focus is to assess and teach independent living, vocational and social skills.
This in turn helps the patients prepare for community reintegration and / or assists them to improve their quality of life.
Experience
Experience in a health care setting teaching, supervising and directing patients is essential.
Education (Degree / Diploma / Certificate)
- University / College education preferably to the Bachelor’s Degree level, in a Health Care, Recreation or Social Sciences discipline or graduation from the Rehabilitation Assistance Certificate Program is essential.
- An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

- Demonstrated interpersonal, oral and written communication skills are essential.
- Demonstrated ability to organize multiple competing tasks is essential.
- Demonstrated ability to problem-solve is essential.
- Demonstrated ability to work on own initiative and within a inter-disciplinary team are essential.
- Experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook and Access) is essential.
- Knowledge of Psychosocial Rehabilitation Principles and Patient-Centred Care.
Physical Requirements
The physical ability to complete moderate physical work is essential.
