About this role

We are recruiting for an Intermediate Accountant to join our Burnaby office. Here's how your role will strengthen our team.

The Intermediate Accountant is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day processing of Houle's accounting transactions in compliance with accounting guidelines and policies.

Your responsibilities

• Ensure assets, liabilities, revenue, expenses and cash flows are accounted for according to GAAP and corporate policies, thereby ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial results
• Verify, allocate, post and reconcile account balances
• Assist with preparing and analyzing financial data as needed, by different departments
• Support the research, interpretation and application of accounting standards as it relates to accounting policies and specific business transactions to ensure compliance.

Prepare technical memorandums

• Assist in the cash management process and prepare budgets
• Assist with general insurance coverage

Assess risk and report to senior finance staff, and work with senior finance staff to improve procedures and internal controls

• Maintain and reconcile financial schedules, assist and coordinate with AR and AP teams
• Identify errors and suggest ways to improve efficiency and spending
• Assist with tax audits and tax returns, as well as internal and external audits to ensure compliance, report findings
• Support month-end and year-end process, and participate in the development and completion of special projects

Your experience and skills

• Degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field
• In the process of obtaining CPA
• 2+ years professional accounting experience
• Experience with compliance and regulation (GAAP)
• Knowledge of accounting procedures and software
• Excellent analytical skills
• Demonstrated proficiency in MS Excel

Salary range : $65,000-75,000 per year plus a competitive total compensation package. Actual salary will be commensurate with experience, skills and overall match to the position offered.
