The role
We are looking for a Semiconductor Process Engineer (Post‑Processing) to support our Canadian Photonics Research Centre. The Engineer would share our core values of Integrity, Excellence, Respect and Creativity.
As the Semiconductor Process Engineer (Post‑Processing), you will take full ownership of the final production stage, transforming III‑V wafers into high‑performance, market‑ready photonic devices. You are responsible for the entire back‑end lifecycle—from precision cleaving and facet coating to final testing—ensuring every die meets the exacting standards of our global clients known as Known Good Die (KGD). This is not just a tool‑based role; it is a high‑impact position where you will drive process improvements and solve complex integration challenges to ensure our technology moves successfully from the fab to the real world.
The Canadian Photonics Fabrication Centre (CPFC) provides state‑of‑the‑art photonics fabrication services that include simulation, design, fabrication, testing and prototyping of III‑V semiconductor devices. CPFC enable Canadian and international clients to transition advanced photonic and electronic technologies to market and supports NRC programs such as NRC’s Advanced Photonic Components.
Screening criteria
Education
Bachelor’s degree in the Physical, Electrical, or Materials Sciences or equivalent engineering disciplines.
A PhD will be considered an asset.

Condition of employment
Reliability Status : For a Reliability Status, verification of background information over a period of 5 years is required.
Must qualify to work in a controlled goods zone. Training will be provided.
Must be able to stand for extended periods and perform light manual tasks in a controlled environment.

Compensation
The intent of this hiring action is to staff this position at the RCO‑3 / 4 level, which is a senior‑career level position with a salary range of $119,688 to $168,192.
NOTE : Please note that the full RO / RCO salary scale has five levels. Salary determination will be based on a review of the candidate’s expertise, outcomes and impacts of their previous work experience relative to the requirements of the level. As such, the initial salary could be within another level of the RO / RCO salary scale (i.e. above or below the intended level for this position).
